Intermediate League Game 30 has closed for submissions. Please feel free to discuss your game in as much detail as you want. The more we talk, the more we can learn from each others successes and failures......

A quiet intermediate game this time with only two submissions. Sarco eases into first place with a comfortable domination victory, while Traianvs gets second spot with an earlier, but lower scoring cultural victory. Congratulations guys!!!

1st : Sarco : Won Domination Victory - 1936AD - 6742 points / 35434 points

I usually play epic games and I had never tried a balanced map so a quick game on this maptype was a new experience for me.

I expanded as quickly as possible (imperialistic eh) until I ran into my neighbours. I decided to take out Alexander as soon as possible to get more territory and get some great generals. He went down but it took a bit of effort and I was worried about the strength of both the Romans and the Persians, and the Indians were well situated to take advantage of their tech lead. I decided to go after the Indians asap before my units became obsolete even though they were slightly ahead of me in tech. I was very worried that the other two would backstab me since my borders to them were all but unguarded, so I kept spamming units.

Out of the blue Cyrus then attacked Augustus, while I was still building to take on both of them at once. I won with silly amounts of surplus units but it was a good game

I noticed the early available supply of stone and decided I would try and use my capital as a wondermonger. I had few opportunities to expand early on and since I was usually building wonders or other cultural buildings I hardly had any defence at all. However I made sure I was "friendly" with all my neighbours (excepting of course, that pesky Alexander) and even engaged in a defensive pact with Cyrus. When I got around to the modern area my development stalled and I was thrown back in tech advance. Didn't have military, couldn't expand except culturally anymore, since Asoka was trying all he could to avoid me converting his domain by investing in culture too. By then I was steadily heading towards a cultural victory anyway so I just had to sit out until my 2 cultural cities achieved legendary culture on the same turn.

Had hoped to reach it a bit earlier though, but then again I only made vague plans so meh.
