Asoka was such a nice guy I declared war on him right after he beat me just to get some vengeance. He was as successful in war as he was in culture...

I took out Alexander first as his only metal was a city planted on my borders. I had went staright to construction, and the catapults made short work of his city defender stacks.

I went into a tech push for Redcoats, once I got that I turned off tech to upgrade my stacks of city raider 2 axemen to Redcoats. With those and a bunch of seige units to decimate the stacks of longbows Asoka had, I pushed through India with minimal resistance. I got cavalry right after the invasion so decided to push right into the Persians. The Romans, who I had been freindly with since the start, joined in without being asked. I took the remaining Persian cities and had the victory once they got out of after capture resistance.

Key to the win was taking the Greek's only metal right after they planted the city on top of it. Without metal, the catpults made quick work of the Greek city defenses. The Greeks had two good production centers that I used to pump out the units I needed to take on India.

I did the same to Greece (stole their metal), but Rome rode my coattails on the war against Alexander. By the time I wiped out Greece, Rome had taken half of it for themselves. I was close friends with India, and that let me take out the Persians in short order as well.

Unfortunately, amongst all the masses of combat updates that panned through the event log in the ensuing war with the Romans, I missed when Asoka got his first and second legendary city.

I didn't miss when he got his third.
