  • [CREATION] Stronger Tank then M-60 or lesser tank than M60

I wanted an additional tank, or even several available for a WWII Scenario i am mulling over, more for me single player than for mass distribution. It would not bother me to share, just I am not that good and would be more for me and a lot (25+) AI's in a War.

I was thinking maybe using the current tank as one and then using available data from another unit, tweaking it and replacing the sprite with one from somewhere, say a smaller less strong tank and then maybe an even more powerful tank than the current M60.

Any suggestions, input would be very gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    aa battery
    cruiser
    freighter
    penal division

    Floating mine (tile imp)
    Pontoon bridge (tile imp)

    105mm wespe

    pz38t light tank
    pzjg 38 hetzer
    pzjg vi elephant
    pzkw iii panzer
    pzkw iv panzer

    t-34-85 tank
    t-70 light tank
    yak-9 fighter
    armoured infantry

    general
    machine gunner
    partisan
    red army
    red guard

    m4a3 sherman tank

A lot of them have summer and winter sprites too.

The human units are smaller than regular CtP sprites so you might not want to mix those with original CtP human units.

They should all work fine in CtP1 as I made them with the sprite maker, which only makes the CtP1 format sprites I think (CtP1 sprites work in CtP2).

Awesome, may I have permission to use them?

Also, do you have any files to accompany them?

It would be awesome if only Germany could build German units, Russia the same and so forth

Thanks so much for the response

Of course. There is a link to them in the 'Poly directory but I didn't put the shield on the correct side with those. I'll upload the fixed ones I have later tonight.

For the pontoon bridge you will need Tile Edit, to modify the undersea tunnel graphics.

There is also one problem with the graphic. If you've seen the undersea tunnel graphics in the tile file (using tile edit), you'll see it has many graphics for each facing, each connection to a different facing etc etc.

I only used the pontoon bridge once in my scenario, it just crossed a 1 (beach) tile gap and it only traveled one way (NW-SE). It was also only created on event, not build-able anywhere at any time, so the one graphic was fine for me.

What you might have to do if you intend the pontoon bridge to be built anywhere on sea terrain (although you could limit it to beaches), is have a more generic bridge graphic or more graphics, so it looks fine in all directions. I've attached what I made, but you might need something different.

The sprites are in ...\ctp_data\default\graphics\sprites, the file to tell which file name the sprite has is spriteID.txt which is in \ctp_data\default\gamedata.

spriteID.txt should be fairly obvious once you take a look.

For example the Tank, in Units.txt search for UNIT_TANK and under that unit there is a line:

            DEFAULT_SPRITE SPRITE_TANK

which is from spriteID.txt, and there it says the sprite is 38, which is GU38.spr. In sprite file names, U = unit sprite, G = good, C = city, X = effect (like bombard, franchise etc animations).

In the zip there is a file called newsprite.txt with the sprite numbers for each unit. Not every unit has a summer and winter sprite so some are duplicated in the winter folder (every unit has a summer sprite), but you can browse all the sprites with Sprite Edit. Here are the units: http://www.geocities.com/ctp2strategy/ctpww2sprites.zip

Sprite Edit build9 is here (since I couldn't find another download): http://www.geocities.com/ctp2strateg...dit_build9.zip

And I thought it where in the Apolyton download section. It looks like that you have posted one of the the earlier versions, the last one I have. Martin the Dane posted also some later versions, unfortunately his side does not exist anymore. Do you have any of the following versions so that I can put them into the Apolyton download section?

              spriteedit.0.2.0.12
              spriteedit.0.2.0.11
              spriteedit.0.2.0.10
              spriteedit.0.2.0.09

Im really excited about CTP again and glad we still have our community

Im not really sure and pardon the pun Keygen but sprites are kinda Greek to me, and dont feel 110% comfortable yet but will get into them, as I really want a WW2 Scenario, even if I cant get all the correct countries at least get some units in that era to have a massive World War

Looking forward to hearing from more people on this as well

Thanks Martin, you have allways been a blessing to me

The one I uploaded to geocities is 0.2.0.9, at least that's what it says under help > about in the menu.

IIRC there's a problem with later versions where you get a memory fault when exporting frames, which is why I still use this one.

Do you still have one of the later version, do they have any features that are worth the hassle. Actually I would like to put sprite edit into the Apolyton download area.

Sorry, yes I have 0.2.0.12, but IMO it doesn't have any important features over build 9. This was added between 9 and 12:

Changes from Build 11 to 12
                      - Modified the tga-import to eliminate "pure-black". Now if the tga contains
pure black pixels those pixels will be converted to the darkest gray.
                      - Added 4 short-cut keys:
                      In the Main window:
                      + + E = Edit currently selected sprite-frame
                      + + I = Insert a sprite-frame befor the currently selected sprite-frame
                      + + A = Add a sprite-frame to the current animation.
                      In the Edit sprite-frame window:
+ L = Open the load tga dialog.

Changes from Build 10 to 11
                      - Edit Sprite Frame now edits the selected heading not just North.

Changes from Build 9 to 10
                      - Implemented Add, Remove, Insert, and Edit Sprite Frame.
This is verry much beta, so please report any odd behaviour.
Note that it is not possible create sprites from scratch.
I posted here: http://apolyton.net/forums/showpost....&postcount=227 regarding the problem with build 12, and I found the same bug in all earlier versions until build 9 worked. I can upload 12 somewhere if you want it, seems to be too big to attach.

That would be nice then I would add build 9 as stable and build 12 as unstable/experimental.

Thank you, I have uploaded both versions, as you can see here. So you can delete the attachment. With the new forum you can even find out how much you have attached. Some 25 MB that is amazing would I have attached over the years.

CREATION Stronger Tank then M 60 or lesser tank than M60

In a scenario I made for CtP2 but it will still work of the Eastern front in WW2 I used the undersea tunnels as pontoon bridges. Works fine, but you might need to add some code that destroys them whenever a sea unit moves onto them.
