  • Talk about what you eat!

And what you spend on it.

Today is a pretty normal day. I had
1 foot long veggie pattie sub from subway (~6$)
    1 apple juice (?? 1.50$ ??)
    1 power bar (?? 1.50$ ??)
    1 container of tofu (?? 4$ ??)
    1 half bag of frozen veggies (?? 1$ ??)

That means I have already, for one person, spent 14$ today. That was for:

    ~1800 Calories
    ~70g of protien
    4-5 servingings of fruit/veggies.

Now I beleive people can do 200$. But that is by paying a lot of attention and eating very cheaply.

I don't see how people can eat so cheaply for reasonable calories and protien and vitamens/etc. So what did you eat, and how much did you spend on it?

    JM
(I will probably have some more food later. Likely salad? or possibly some noodles (cheaper and less healthy than I usually eat).)

Also, the notion that people can eat cheaply and healthily for <50$ per person with both parents working seems wrong.

<$50 per person for what time period?

2 pounds of dried beans or lentils, 5 pounds of brown rice, 3 pounds of apples, 3 pounds of bananas, two heads of cabbage, 2lbs of onions, 1lb garlic, 2 lbs of carrots, 2 lbs celery, a large squash, a gallon of milk, 3 pounds of chicken tighs all together would certainly cost less than $50 and could feed a single person completely and nutritiously for 2 weeks.

                  - 6" Subway breakfast sub (ham + egg + cheese): $5 (450 calories)
                  - Large custom salad (Romaine lettuce + crumbled egg + crispy noodles + cucumber + broccoli): $7 (250 calories)
                  - Leftover Pizza from last night (~$4) (? 600 calories)

                  = $16 for food, 1300 calories

I usually have cereal for dinner during the week (Raisin Brain, Cheerios, etc).

I could have more calories if I want, but I'm trying to keep a low-cal diet.

How many hours? 80 A week? Cause anyone working 40 hours a week can certanly find an hour a day to prepare food. If not, cook on a day off, eat leftovers.

                            tap water - € 0

a vegetable ratatouille with potatoes my mom had left and gave to me - € 0

one pack of hula hoops (crisps) - € 1,3

About € 7 for the day

since I am unemployed and I'm not going to find a job anytime soon
