Did you set them up as a raid?
I just bought a new HD, but I'm having a hard time getting it working
I have:
160 GB IDE HD (drive D)
160 GB SATA HD (split into partitions C and E)
1 TB SATA HD (the new HD) (Maxtor)
Ever since I inserted the new HD several problems has started showing up:
Drives has multiplied (I have now a drive I, which is just pointing to drive C. And I have drive J, which is just pointing to drive E)
The new drive doesn't show up in Windows (Vista)
Disk Management under Vista shows this:
Seems like the computer believes my two SATA HDs are one drive, how do I make it realize the truth?

Did you set them up as a raid?
"tout comprendre, c'est tout pardonner"
I couldn't find anything in the bios to set them up as raid except for a place where you could switch between three different options:
1. AHCI
2. Something with Enhanced Mode, dont' remember exactly
3. Raid
Picking the first one causes BSOD when booting, so I picked two

Yeah, it feels like they're set up in a RAID.
IIRC, SATA ports are paired up in a way that the SATA controller assumes they're a RAID - when I connected my second SATA disk up, I had to use a particular SATA port and not the next one over from my first one.
Also, the SATA RAID setup is usually separate from the normal BIOS - for me, I have a chance to enter the BIOS, and then a few seconds later a different key combination (F4 for me) is pressed to enter SATA RAID configuration.

I like your SNOOPY POSTER! - While you Wait quote.
I haven't noticed any other key combinations that has anything to do with raid, but I'll have a look next time I reboot
I feel like I have tried all possible combinations of ports used. I have two orange, two blacks and one red. The new drive wont work if I use any of the orangeOriginally posted by snoopy369
