  • Should the US not retire the shuttles?

With the Russians going cold war on us we'll need a launch vehicle to be able to get to the space station. Can the life of the shuttles be safely extended? Or what about that private enterprise mothership/space vehicle combo what's his name is building? Do you think that could be upgraded for space station missions?

    Thoughts?

Could be wrong, but my impression was it's not of much use except for getting money out of rich guys who want to make a short jump into the higher atmosphere? In other words it doesn't seem to be comparable to real space vehicles, at least for now.

Once again we need some rocket scientists

I wonder if NASA could slap some extra boosters on it, jazz it up a bit. Its a good idea, maybe have Boeing transform a 747 into a mothership and and...

Nope they have to wait till 2015 or something like that until they manage to replicate the Apollo technology they used 40 years ago.

Hm, I hope for something a bit more impressive, like battlestars, star destroyers or at least NX class. And they should at least have started to build Babylon 1 by 2015
