creative zen vs ipod nano

i want to buy an mp3 player for my sister, preferably one with a screen to display photos

so i'm between an ipod nano and the creative zen.
zen is cheaper and has a larger screen (2.5" vs 2")

apple has the apparent cool factor (very needed for a 16-year old

)

thoughts? anyone with a zen?

Both of those have a good reputation.

But...

If you want one for more than music, buy an iPod Touch. It's hands down the best portable media player you can buy, and it has mail and the web and soon games and all sorts of other cool stuff.

The Nano and the Zen are rather small to play video on, and that is the next big thing. The Touch has a bigger screen, is thinner and is only slightly longer than the Zen.

The iPod Touch is interesting, but its too big, IMO. I prefer my Nano. I never use it to display photos (with the exception of album art) or videos or play video games. (And who the hell watches photos or videos on their iPods?) To me, its all about the music.

That said, I'm pretty sure the Creative is also a good MP3 player. BTW, the Nano's screen is smaller, but it has the same resolution.

I like my Nano. It's definitely good on the video side - plenty big. Watch TV or DVD fine.

No idea on the zen.

i got the zen after all...
the quality of the plastic and the general feel is not apple of course, but the screen is large enough for photo viewing (as opposed to the nano which i also tested today) and the sound quality fine.
plus i've decided that i dont like the ipod wheel. when i want to go up i want to press the up button not do circle moves....
