OK, we have two votes so far, but no posting from team leaders.
Could the team leaders who voted please post that they have done so..........
Lets vote on every single aspect of the setup process......
Let's vote on the major settings and leave the rest Keygen......
Let's vote on just a handful of settings and leave the rest to Keygen......
Let's give Keygen a descriptive brief only.......
Let's leave all settings in the hands of Keygen.......

OK, first things first, how much time and how many polls to we want to wade through in order to arrive at our final setup options??
Do we want to examine and vote on every single aspect of the setup process, do we want to vote on just the major settings, do we want to vote on just a handful of things, do we want to submit a descriptive brief only to Keygen, or do we want to leave everything in the hands of Keygen??
As this is a team poll, could you please not vote in this thread unless you are a team leader. Team leaders are :
Eirich Tuireann : Paddy
Gathering Storm : Krill
Imperio : X_MiTH_X
PAL : Whip[lash
Realms Beyond : Swiss Pauli
Team Banana : Will
Templars : Beta
The Rabbits of Caerbannog : RobWorham
Team leaders, please vote in the above poll, and post that you have voted so everyone knows who has voted, and who is still to vote.
Team leaders should (if they wish) make a similar poll to this in their teams private forum, so each team can decide democratically how they would like to proceed with the game setup process.
THIS POLL CLOSES IN ONE WEEK FROM NOW!!!!

Making this a poll was a bad idea, should have just voted by paw.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Templars voted for major settings, although someone did raise the obvious question as to what are major and what are minor settings.
We are assuming map size and type, tech brokering, victory conditions, barbarian setting, etc, etc are the major settings. So with a list of major settings, what are the minor ones?
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

OK, we have three votes for major settings and only two team leaders posting that they have voted, unless Krill was a voted post too........
I thought things like starting era would be minor. That is, things that I would presume are a given........

We have 6 votes recorded, but only three (possibly four) posted votes by team leaders!!!
I really didn't think the process was that difficult........

Thanks for that Rob. Sorry to jump in.
So decisions about:
Choose religion
Goody Huts
Random events
City Flipping after conquest
City Razing
would be regarded as major in addition to the better known major settings.

By definition yes.
The reason I am trying to streamline the process is because the only guideline (rumour) I have heard regarding the release date of the final BtS patch is :
Q1 (first quarter) 2008
We are now 2/3's of the way through that first quarter. If we could, I'd like to get things set in place here by the end of the month so we could be ready for when the patch does eventually get released.......

Gathering Storm votes that the teams decide on single issue, be it major or minor.

just don't make it a poll and let the team leaders vote in the threads by posting their teams choices.

OK in theory, but the vote could be 'manipulated' by those voting later in the thread.Originally posted by Krill

Rather than voting for what they actually want, a team might vote for/against a particular setting just to support/defy a trend.
I propose sending Keygen our PM votes, and he posts the votes in the relative thread once all the votes are received, or the voting submission period is closed.
But I haven't seen Keygen around here for a while. So if you guys agree, you could hold your votes until I have posted The Rabbits vote publically, then send me your votes by PM, and once I have them all, or the vote times out, I'll post them for all to see.........
How does that sound???

This is my problem: there is a danger of people losing interest if this doesn't start soon. cf warlords DG.Ya but Trip is working on it, so plan on this summer
Is the new and final patch so crucial?
Will it change things in the early period that much. ?
(I haven't installed the latest unofficial patch, so don't know the fine tuning).
On the ISDG 2012 team at the heart of CiviLIZation

I want to see this succeed btw but keeping 8 teams hanging around until April and a possible patch is stretching things.
This particular DG concept started late January.
I suppose I am asking, Why precisely are we waiting for the patch?
On the ISDG 2012 team at the heart of CiviLIZation

Because it can be a real pain in the arse patching in the middle of the game - plus depending on what they change - teams can be disadvantaged if a certain path they were following becomes nullified by "game" changes, rather than someone beating them to it.Originally posted by Hercules

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
