I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
Once again, thank you all!
As you may imagine, I shaked a lot of hands yesterday at work, and received plenty of phone calls, SMS, emails and cards. Since I live pretty far from the rest of the family, we didn't make a big party at home in the middle of the week. So I just had a quiet birthday evening with my wife and a bottle of Armagnac.
PS: What amused me most was the lot of automatically generated emails from forums I'm signed in. Some of them I already had forgotten for years and don't even remember what they are about.
