and other British bands, until I saw part 1 of the BBC's new series on the history of rock at the weekend.
There is a long history of musical interchange between the US and UK, with ideas and styles bouncing back and forth across the atlantic, but it was great to see another of my heroes, Hendrix, was such an example.

A lot of succesful pop/rock songs borrow other musician's succesful licks. The most famous example is probably 'Louie, louie'. How many times did you hear the 'Louie, Louie' riff in other songs?![]()

It's not a ripoff; it's an homage!
Actually, Jimi and Buddy played together. Buddy was there for the hippie chicks. Jimi was filming Buddy to learn his stuff. Buddy felt like he got the better end of the deal.

Jimi was influenced by other things British, too. Can anyone supply the lyrics to this:

he was also influenced by weed, cocaine, crack and alcohol

Crack? I 'm not sure that free-base cocaine was popular currency in the 60's.

No. Crack is "new".

Crack is not freebase, they are similar but different forms of cocaine. IIRC freebase is cocaine without an HCl molecule attached. Crack is coke that is essentially boiled and mixed with Baking Soda. It making little popping sounds when smoked, hence the name, Crack.Originally posted by Cort Haus

It's still not 60's or 70's. I know. I did just about anything I could get my hands on.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
