can't install patch or uninstall!

I am trying to install the patch but when I try I get a message saying -

error (-5009:0x8002802b)

so I tried to unistall and then istall again but when I tried to uninstall I get the same message.

How do I fix this?

I assume that you have a legal copy of the game, right?
Did you uninstall civ4 entirely, and install it again, then install Warlords, then install latest patch from within the game? (or without Warlords if you don't have Warlords)

After uninstalling there is still stuff left behind.

I would go on the assumption that one of those files is bad.

Basically, you need to clean out the installer's temp folder. I suspect this is the problem you're having. You probably want to redownload the patch as well.

I fixed the problem, and yes I do have a legal copy of the game lol.
