  • First Va Tech copycat?

Here in my hometown this was just announced on the 11pm news.

On April 19, 2007, North Augusta Department of Public Safety Officers arrested a 14-year-old North Augusta boy on a charge of “Disturbing Schools / Terroristic Threats”.

This juvenile was attending class at North Augusta Middle School and was preparing to physically engage another student. While on school grounds, the suspect made the comment that should he get expelled for fighting that he was going to “Virginia Tech this school”, referring to North Augusta Middle School.

Picture the loser sent along with the threat:

The day after the VA Tech shooting, one of our high schools was shutdown cuz 2 students brought paintball guns to school and were up to antics.

If they don't treat this boy seriously, imagine the outcry down the road when he does something.

If by "seriously" you mean not a juvy sentence (that is later sealed or even expunged) but prosecution as an adult, that isn't guaranteed.

Talk is cheap. I'm sure more than a few gutless (and clueless) losers will run their mouths in public, thinking that making that sort of threat is funny or makes them real bad-asses.

That is how the news station released the pic. He's a minor, and there are laws against publishing pics of minors accused of crimes.

I suppose if he gets charged as an adult that would change.
