So this is the... expansion pack of the expansion pack for the sequel of Hearts of Iron. I hope they're not going with the way of the EA.

It's a kind of "small expansion pack", costs ca. 5 USD and will be released for download in March:
Not really breathtaking improvements IMO, but since it's only five bucks.....Armageddon closing in as Paradox reveals next project
New York, USA (March 7, 2007) – Paradox Interactive announced today their next project for March 2007.
The Booster pack for Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday - "Armageddon" will be released as a download only product for strategy gamers worldwide via Gamer's Gate. The product will go live towards the end of March and will retail for $4.99/€4.99.
For screens, please visit the Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday forum.
"Armageddon" will include two completely new alternative history scenarios, perfect for those looking for new challenges! The scenarios will also have variable end dates and in addition to a variety of new game options, gamers will find new features like:
- New attachments for Naval units; do you scrap or upgrade those old ships
- Land units can now be built with brigades already attached.
- An Air Naval combat system that radically alters the combat balance
- New damage algorithms for the Air combat system, making organization more important and allowing air units to fight longer.
Just the title Doomsday Armageddon seems redundant![]()

This sounds like stuff one would have in a patch.

Once upon a time this stuff would have been a free patch. They must have lost more money on their subpar Diplomacy game then I thought.

Anyone tried this? What attachments can you get for ships?

Not for most games. You've just been spoiled by Paradox.Originally posted by Tacc

Radar (better detection), better hull (sea defense), fire control (fire range), better AA, torpedoes (better convoy raiding stats), separate for capital and small ships. The bigger the ship, the more attachments it can have, up to five for battleships.Originally posted by Oerdin

Just that currently this booster pack is so full of bugs that I can't really recommend it. Maybe when they have another patch for it ready (they already released a "hotfix" which introduced some cool new bugs).
One of the best features is that you can stop the AI spamming you with exp. forces, but this also works not to 100% (you have to select it again after every reload)

I think I will buy this patch today.

Well, this is great. I recently purchased a new computer and I've hooked my old IDE hard drive up to my new computer using a IDE to USB adapter because my new computer uses an SATA controller. I can play all the games on my old hard drive but I can't seem to install the new patches. I keep getting a message that HOI2: DD isn't installed on this computer.
I suspect that since I'm using an old install from a hard drive I've recently hooked up to the computer the new Vista registry doesn't recognize DD as being installed even though I can currently play the game just fine. I'd say the fix is to reinstall DD however I accidentally stepped on the desk a while back so I no longer have my original disk.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to install Armageddon?

Yes, although some might not like it.
Download the ISO of Doomsday. You bought the Game after all, so it should be quite legimitate.
On the other Hand if you didnt, you mustnt.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I did buy the game and the expansion pack.
Update: I now have Armageddon installed though I still can't install patch 1.3a for DD. I'm currently using the patch right before that one.

This is so frustrating. I have successfully installed the Armageddon patch but every time I try to launch the game I hear a beep and then the game hangs at the "intializing globals" part of the game loading sequence. I think I will have to download another copy and reinstall.

I think I know what's going on. The beep I hear sounds exactly like the sound Vista makes when it is asking you if you're sure you want to run a program. I believe Vista is stopping the program since it isn't in the registry. I know there is a way to disable this Vista feature but I'm not sure how.

I've decided to just buy another copy of DD. It's $20 wasted though at least it is supporting a game I like.
