Yeepee! I'm back after one week of internet abstinence!

OK, I still can't connect to Beta's computer, but at least I can post here to say that me too, I blame Beta!

Game has been running smoothly here for the last 36 hours.

So, I really do think this is all Rhothaerill's fault. After all, he is from California.

Not sure what the problem is - sounds like the same issue I have with Teach Alexman or the New world, where it can take a handful of attempts to connect. If someone can explain this - I am all ears.

Well, I'm also from California and I've had no problems lately with Beta's game (knock on wood)

Actually, I have found out that if somene else is already logged into the game, I will usually end up losing my connection with the host...so I normally look at CivStats and see if anyone is logged into the game prior to myself logging in.

Yeah! I got in! After two tries only finally. Not bad!

Perhaps it is only a problem of connection speed? My connection is good, but not thunderquick also. What about yours, Beta?

And are the data transiting via Gamespy? If so, I would not be surprised if their servor were "a bit" overloaded in the american evening...

Game was back down again this morning for about an hour to deal with some tech issues. Back up and running.

There is a good reason why I am holding up the game turn and haven't played yet...Bohemian Epic is not showing up on GameSpy...

Yep - game crashed - and I was late getting to my pc today. Reloaded - only Witt left to play - but well over 12 hours still on the turn timer.

Finally I had a second chance tonight and it worked perfectly! I definitively don't understand why it works sometimes and sometimes not at all.

I have the same situation with Teach Alexman. Sometimes it takes me 8 or 9 tries to connect. And it is the only game I have problems with. So go figure.

Snoop thinks it has to do with the compatability of the routers/modems at each end.

Anyways - its Friday night - and HOTW8 is about to start.

Shutting the game down for the next 3 or 4 hours. Thanks for your patience.

Looks like civstats got disconnected for all games. Reconnected. Also game was down for about 30 minutes just recently while I was rebooring and doing a few things.

Weird... CivStats for this game says everyone played their turn, yet Prov has yet to play in reality.

Windows automatically did some updates and erebooted, killing the pitboss.

Loaded from provi's save but he has to replay. Provi and Rhoth left with 12+ hours on the turn timer.

Ephack - don't hesitate to ask me or any of the others to babysit a game - as long as we are NOT in that game.

Tatu - I still have similar issues with Teach Alexman. I sometimes (not always, but often) that dropping my firewall makes it easier to connect and play. You might want to try that.

Also - the next time you have a connection issue, see if I am around. PM and email me. I can try a test of dropping the 'internal software' firewall to see if that helps. The pitboss is obviously on the exceptions list - but it would be interesting to see if this makes a difference.

I think snoop had the issue nailed when he talked about router and modem compatibility issues. A may connect great with B, but not with C, where B and C have no problem. Don't ask me why - but it is the best explanation I have heard to-date that fits the various 'issues' that I have experienced.
