Annoyance: high-resolution pictures

How hard would it be to restrict images higher than a certain resolution, or even resize them automatically? Or perhaps just make it that images > X resolution are attached instead of automatically displayed.

It can get really annoying at times - not all of us have got a fancy 20'' LCD. A single oversized image can make browsing a thread a pain in the ass.

There used to be a 800 pixel restriction on the width of attachments... Is it not still there?

OTOH hotlinked images have never been restricted... Might require a bit of hacking to do properly...

Oh I think you're right... the problem is with the linked images, not the attached ones.

I agree that this is a serious pain in the ass (and I have a fancy 19" LCD ) Unfortunately I think it´s impossible to implement a size checker for linked images unless Locutus does some really hardcore programming...

OTOH it might be a piece of cake, what do I know...

Hmm, at least in the past it would refuse to display images over 800 width (just skipping them entirely) ... odd that it doesn't anymore

I have a 20" screen. Although I always keep my favorites bar up so that takes away about 1.5". It does get really annoying when LordShiva posts huge pictures.
