*Helsingfords captured, amazingly there was a Barrack in it! 1 veteran Royal Artillery lost

Nice speaking Dario I, you showed off yourself very well, however I doubt you have the best trading routes; I think mine are better, if it is a demanding good always above the 2000 Ducats, normally above the 3000, a non demanded good above the 1000. I have to recognize you did very well so far but of course you started with a great nation, not like me. I was 7th and now I’m 3rd, my population has grown 7 times what it was in the beginning, my number of cities x14 and my army more than x5, try to beat that

@sergio: what should i try to beat? well i'm not that good. just i got first the rev tech. and yes i started with a better civ... but spain starts still better than me at the beggining.

anyways i'll try to develop a little more to get better results in the demographic and that.

France: nothing to report. some trade here and there.

It is. I spesifically told you guys that I want us to go around Africa. No "suez's" and no "panama's"!

That Italian city founded by Dario was a borderline case. Generally there should be no cities that can allow for quick passes, although here we can be somewhat lenient. The case with that really, was that it doesn't make any sense with a French city in the middle of Italy. But that is not the case here, I'm just using it as an example of what should be avoided.

But have you used Al-Dario as a "suez", Dario?

Hm? I am not quite sure I follow, but the way the map was designed it is impossible to found a "Suez" city anyway.

Dario does not have a city which allows his ships to pass through the non-existent Suez Canal. He still has to circumnavigate Africa.

yes, exactly what denis said. the map is not designed to build a city as "suez" where ships can pass.

the land is two squares of width!!!! the same with Panama!!!! non-possible to build quick bridge cities.

eivind you did the map!!! check your map!!!!

I was referring to the road network observation by Rebel. that would imply that he uses this Al-Dario city to transfer units as in a "land suez", which is just as prohibited. Am I correct or is Al-Dario just an ordinary city?

i really don't know what do you refer. "land suez"???

it is not possible to pass a ship from mediterranean Sea to Red Sea.

so i still don't understand nothing. All what i'm doing is perfectly legal.
give me an example ( draw one), make one in SP mode post here or ask an outsider to check only your doubt.

    turn.

    nothing to report.

one doubt. Eivind i dont have this clear. can i conquer for example germans cities?

What Eivind mean is that units can not be tranfered via that small piece of land joining Africa with Asia, to give it a name we call it the Suez region, for example your goods coming from India have to circumavigate Africa and not take this shurtcut, really unrealistic. A third person has checked it for me, it seems you have two cities in that region connected with roads, this give you a kind of 'Suez' to tranfer fast your units from the Indic Ocean to the Mediterranean what is not legal, why do you think I didn't do that myself before?

Also another very important thing you have done: It seems you bribed with a Diplomat Genoa to join your empire: this is super unrealistic and should be not allowed! Man, if this was legal then what is the point of building weapons? Much better Diplomats! With a couple of thousends Ducats (peanuts in this game) you can get a new city with all improvements in it and units with no losses! Common...why you don't ask things before doing this actions...this at the end only gives problems

And no, you can't capture German cities, it is also forbiden by the rules (read man!)

    what now?

Huh? Why would transferring trade goods or other units over land be banned? It's not unrealistic at all.

well, i have to let you know that i also have a city in that area. in egypt, specifically. i built it to protect the freights i move from my india and african colonies to the mediterranean.
i`ve been in war with the ottomans in the past, so i fear that they will sneak attack me. with a city down there, i feel much more safe.
i hope i`m not doing something illegal there...

about the bribing with diplomats... holy ****!! did you do that dario?
i thought we already knew that using diplomats to bribe cities was FORBIDDEN. that it was a non-written rule that everybody was following...

Damnit, this sucks. As Rebel said, everyone would do this if it was though legal. I've abstained from it myself, and the very reason I made the map broader in such areas as Central America and Suez is that this kind of "chaining" shouldn't be possible. Even though this loop hole in the "suez rule" wasn't pointed out spesifically, I thought we all understood that any such unrealistic actions were prohibited. Is it really neccesary to make an über detailed house rule list?

So to answer you Denis, it's unrealistic because this could never happen in real life - founding a city in the middle of the desert in Sinai/Egypt to transfer units to the other side, to the treacherous Arab Red Sea - full of enemy war ships. There's no way to represent this in the scenario, and hence the map was broadened to avoid suez's and a house rule established.

I don't know for how long you have been doing this, but it has surely had an impact on the game, by shortening the trade routes dramatically.

The Genoa thing should be perfectly understandable as well. Why didn't you ask before acting so naivly?

i did know you did the map to prevent free pass. but you never mentioned about a rule of transfering units via that short way. or i missed it, if it was one.

if you don't explicit something via house rules (allow ,disallow), then whatever is valid.

i remember when Rebel did something similar with rules in Bk1942, he did ship-chains, but in the house rules, there was nothing written against ship-cahins( naturally Eivind forgot to write it). then Rebel understood it was "valid". he did it, and we accepted him. (altough i claimed that rule was rather than obvious), we accepted to go on with the game.
    a misunderstood.

sorry, i guessed it was valid. i did it because it wasn't specified. you know eivind that reallistic/unrealistic is a very subjetive concept, and each player may understand that according to a very personal point of view. may be the red sea is full of arabs, but as i control sudan, then i got a "deal" with arabs in that zone....
    it wasn't my intention, sorry.

I don't know for how long you have been doing this, but it has surely had an impact on the game, by shortening the trade routes dramatically.
not that a big impact, it's just the second smallest portion of my empire at india (afther new zealand).

The Genoa thing should be perfectly understandable as well. Why didn't you ask before acting so naivly?
    well.......
currently, is toooooo easy to edit the rules to disallow that option, you being an expert in the scenario design know how to do that. i thought it was INTENDED to bribe. anyways i just bribed one city.

    sorry

ps to eivind: suggestion, you can "simulate" a red sea full of arabs, blocking the sea with barb vessel using a special unit, or something.

I just thought that with my efforts to make it impossible to pass through suez physically, that you could think far enough as to understand that what you have done to bypass this is an example of exactly something that lies behind my thought. It really doesn't take that much thinking to realize that what you and alej has done is exactly what I was trying to avoid from beeing possible. Do I really need to specify everything that should be self explanatory?

As far as that 1942 example of yours, I don't remember so I can't comment.

You are a very clever player, Dario, but please think before acting in the future, and ask when in doubt, or if not, ask anyway. Better safe then sorry. But misunderstandings here or not, I think this game is ruined.

in my case, yes. you know that i don't share your "realistic" policy-

You are a very clever player, Dario, but please think before acting in the future, and ask when in doubt, or if not, ask anyway. Better safe then sorry.
as i tell you, very subjetive, i was sure it was allowed. don't blame on me, if i would have any doubt, for sure i would have asked you before acting.
of course, from now on, i'll take it into account your suggestions.

But misunderstandings here or not, I think this game is ruined.
don't be such dramatic. without that or not, i would have nearly reached what i'm having now. my success are thanks to many other things i developed smartly.

a game is ruined when everybody want it.

suggestion: i leave the game, france ruled by the AI. you guys are very very close each one of you in the development. i didnt do nothing military against you, then, there wasnt any kind of intervention.

    eivind, friends?

    Thanks Sergio.

i wanted that you go on with this with the rest of players. anyways, if you want to end here, i really enjoyed this good scenario, this scenario is one of my favourite one.

No need to thank me Dario, you played very well and you are by no doubt the winner, that you made a Suez at little influence in the final outcome since like you said you had not many colonies in Asia, and that city bribing was in the last turn. Let me ask you one thing, I'm curious about this; how did you get so many techs in so short time? Massive trade ok, but is there something more? some kind of trick of yours that you developed?

you must take advantage of trade, indeed.
go and build cities the most far from your dest trading cities.
new zealand, we didn't try australia in this game, since you are playing other pbem, you or someone else could try.
