Mods Problem!

Hello,

dear all,i would like to tell you a problem that might be easy for you.
i m trying to load a md.any mod.i havent install patches.
no effect.i m putting the mod to both H:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods, and,
C:\Documents and Settings\n\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\MODS.
but still no effect.
i dont know if this has anything to do,but i have edit the original files of civilization,long ago before i was attempted to load a mod.

You haven't installed patches? You mean you're on a version prior to 1.61? Definitely update. I think there may have even been a bugfix or two to loading mods, though I know that loading from the Documents and Settings folder is still problematic; definitely put it in the Program Files folder. (Which you've done, so that's clearly not the problem.)

How are you trying to load the mod? (You are aware you cannot modify a game in progress, right? You specifically have to choose a mod when starting a new game.)

Have you clicked on the "Load a Mod" option?

my dear friends,

thanks for helping me sovlving this out.
there are no stupid wuestions;only stupid ansewrs.so please ask anyhting you consider that will help you.
i install the mod to both locations(my documents,my games,)and to programm files.and then,yes,i choose load a mod,then the mod appears,and then the game sais"the game will restert to load this mod".then the game restarts,appear the mod,but when the game starts,no special effects of the mod are displayed.for example,i added the great person mod,but when a great scientist was born,no special effect has happened.
the only reasonable explanation for this however,might be that i havent made updates with patches.i havent install 1.52 or 1.61 patches.the reason for this is that i have an ati card,which if i install any patch,i have to make a lot of procedures in order to make the game run again,cause as you know already the gamers having an ati card have some problems for running the game.
it appears however,that i ahve no other choice but to update,then see what to do with the card...

I'm not sure of the details of that mod, but I do know some commands were changed and added with patches; so being behind the latest version could well be why the mod isn't working.

I suggest: uninstall Civ4 and delete the folders. Just to get rid of everything you may have changed. Then install Civ4 from the CDs, and patch with 1.61. The ATI problems have been fixed by the patches, so there's no reason why you should have issues with 1.61 and the latest ATI drivers. Then see how the mods work.

Hello!!!!

i have followed your instructions-thanks to all!!!!
i have unistalled civ 4,then install it again,then add the 1.61 patch and now i m very happy for 2 reasons:

1)the problem regarding the ati card has been resolved and the game runs without modifications,
2)the mod has been recognised and is fully playable!!!!

once more please accept from my heart my thanks for helping me to resolve this problem!!!
