Its capital is Phnom Penh, it was part of French Indochina, it was bombed by the CIA in the 60s/70s, it was ruled by the genocidal maniacs of the Khmer Rouge from 1975-1979 and it was invaded by Vietnam in 1978/7912-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

The place is known as the international hub for child prostitution and every sicko from the known world who wants to abuse a child heads there for their "vacations".Last edited by Dinner; May 16, 2006, 03:04.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

There you go.
Now, Oerdin has a point. What's this trip for?“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

Great food. Not as refined as Vietnam, but unlike Thailand, you can get good fresh bread in the morning and real coffee. Then for dinner, think of Heresson as you chow down on tender little froggies.
The Angkor complex is s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g
Don't wander off the beaten track or you risk stepping on a land mine.
Charming, beautiful people (Hey, they put up with me - so they must be pretty good). But I never quite got used to having strangers giving me broad, cheerful smiles and waving as I cycled past. At least not the ones who were sitting in bunkers behind heavy machine guns.

And I liked Phnom Penh; with its faded colonial charm and backpacker vibe, it's a great once-and-future city (if Cambodia can get its act togther), a Saigon-in-the-waiting.
I was also struck by how people would tell the most heartbreaking stories of living under the Khmer Rouge in a simple, matter-of-fact manner. They're a people of immense dignity.
And on behalf of Mrs. Firefly, I'll recommend that you read Philip Short's biography of Pol Pot, which she said was excellent. (I'll get to it one of the days...)"I have as much authority as the pope. I just don't have as many people who believe it." — George Carlin

I learn everything about politiks from musicians as they are obviously the best source of information.
Dead Kennedys
So you been to schools
For a year or two
And you know you've seen it all
In daddy's car
Thinkin' you'll go far
Back east your type don't crawl
Play ethnicky jazz
To parade your snazz
On your five grand stereo
Braggin' that you know
How the ******s feel cold
And the slum's got so much soul
It's time to taste what you most fear
Right Guard will not help you here
Brace yourself, my dear...
It's a holiday in Cambodia
It's tough, kid, but it's life
It's a holiday in Cambodia
Don't forget to pack a wife
You're a star-belly sneech
You suck like a leach
You want everyone to act like you
Kiss ass while you *****
So you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you
Well you'll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers
'Til you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake
Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son...
Is a holiday in Cambodia
Where people dress in black
A holiday in Cambodia
Where you'll kiss ass or crack
Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, Pol Pot, etc....
And it's a holiday in Cambodia
A holiday in Cambodia
Where the slums got so much soul

Should be a great place to be for a while, you can see the civil war ridden side of the country still, even though the war is over (but it just ended).
Lots of activities to do, watch the landmines (don't go running off road outside cities).
You can go to shooting range and fire m-16 and all kinds of weapons. What else? Visit the 'museums' that tells what happened during the Khmer Rogue and the horrible aftermath.
Enjoy, use common sense and you'll be fine. Phnom Penh is likely where you'll go so use common sense (don't be the drunken idiot who wanders the alleys alone).
Enjoy!In da butt.

But it's being cleared - one leg at a time...
This is why landmines suck, because they're still out there blowing up little kids in the fields - more than 30 years after the war ended."Politics is to say you are going to do one thing while you're actually planning to do someting else - and then you do neither."
