    I agree with Chrisius.

And I think the way to go is first give the party an organization.

    First word to the Founder.

    Best regards,

We are a Guild, we have a founder, yes, and we have members, but do we need to have an organization. I thought we were here to assist each other and build on good strong common goals.

I see Ruby's point; but I think some party structure (like American'parties, not English'ones)would not hurt.
        (BTW,Ruby:it seems members'list needs update).
        Something like that:

Party shall have two structures: Congress and President.

        Congress: all members.
        Meetings: ordinary and extraordinary.
        Ordinary: every four weeks to discuss and decide any subject;
Extraordinary: called by P. to decide concret subject(s).

President: elected by the Congress;no time limit;can be replaced by the Congress. Executive funtions;can charge temporary aides of concret tasks as needed.

        And that would be all.

        What do you think about?

        Best regards,

I think either way would work... but being a guild would be better due to our lack of time to hold meetings and a harsh protocol

To be organized is good. Remember that we are a Guild. Yes we should have some structure.

              AGG Organization

Well chaps, fed brings up a good point! The problem is that we are a Guild and not a Party so it is difficult to have a political system like the US Government and stay true to ourselves.

              Why is this?

              1. A guild is a group of equals with a common goal in front of them, a governing structure would indicate one member's superiority over another, and that is not something that the AGG is about.

              2. A system of government like the United States is a very cumbersome system in general, we don't need extra beaurocracy because we don't have people's lives at stake, we have a Civ at stake. It seems more pertinent that we use the efficiency the guild system offers, since our biggest potential loss leads to starting a new game, which is not that bad.

              3. We want people who show up here for the first time to not be overwhelmed by everything that's going on. A guild hall is a place for camaraderie, fellowship, a good brew, a fresh banana, and in our case, something having to do with a big handheld weapon like an axe.

              4. There isn't that much for us to debate. Since we have a general warmonger mindset, anything that contributes to us having total beatdown rights over our neighbors, we're totally in favor of.

              However:

Since elections are coming up, we do need organization.

Guild organization -- biggest oxymoron I've ever heard.

Anyway, being a member gives you the rights to all the party benefits of the AGG. Whether you be a settler making post #1 or UnO or Paddy, or whomever. You support the AGG, and the members will wholeheartedly support you.

So... if you are running for a position in the government, and you supported a candidate within the AGG, he most certainly should be expected to support you or have good reason not to.

Similarly then, any member should have the right to call a meeting of the Guild at any time if there is good reason to meet. Guilds are not public affairs, and the more silent they are, the more powerful they are.

In regards to the coming election, I would like to nominate fed1943 for president, he rocked on turnchat 3 and took on the responsibilities of president when a crisis caused Paddy to be absent.

I would like to see the whole guild support whoever we decide is our best representative with full knowledge that they will support us later.

I will volunteer to keep our records straight as to who is running for what on the AGG ticket, if someone feels they can do a better job than me, I will let them, but I don't feel this is necessary. I only volunteer to be a servant to the men (I think we're still all men) that I can call fellow grinders, men that I look up to, men that I would be honored to serve.

                    Great post Turtle

As well as nominating though how about those closet leaders come forth and vocally speak there interest in running for government posts ?

I will say now I will not be seeking to stand for any positions in the next round of elections.

I will however support my fellow guild members who do stand, but I think we need to eliminate a splitting of the guilds vote, and try to organise ourselves one good canditate for any post up for grabs.

                        • Maybe Ruby can do us an updated members list then we get all members to state there intentions and/or make any nominations.

From here we can then as a guild decide who of our number to put forward as a canditate allowing the full support of the guild to be sensibly allocated

                          • Of course you all are right. And I thank you to correct me.

When I read need of do something, I "translated" it to need of organization. But,I see now no need of a "ceremonial" organization because the needed organization already exists.

Congress? No need, just we all. President? No need, just our Founder.

And our Guild is not suposed to always have a task to perform. Only when need arrises. Then we are ready.

One time when we need to do something is elections'times. And Metaliturtle is right (again) our talks about elections better prived. How to do this private talking, I do not know, but you do.

By sure, our Guild is not against anyone, because we all know that we are all users of the Apolyton site, players of civ4 and fellow citizens of the same fair nation.

We all have the same goals and only the ways to achieve it can diverge, sometimes and not much.

                            Best regards,
