It seems that Russia alone has more neo nazis than the rest of the world combined.

They like to beat Armenians, Georgians and other people from the Caucasus.
Sometimes they also beat for example Itlian or Greek tourists because they confuse them with people from the caucasus due to being darker, altough I guess some just like to beat dark people of any nationality.

Gangerolf, doesn't boggle my mind too much. It's always possible, nationalism has space when there are people without jobs, youth without good potential future things to look at. This would go to every country, Russia is a big country, so they must have that too.

Pekka, I can understand the nationalism and the racism, but it still doesn't make much sense to me that they are nazis (if that means they worship Hitler and the SS and so on. I don't know whether they do that.).

Might be or might not be. The stranded youth part that is slipping into fascism is more like beer drinking, muscle flexing, foreign beating gang types of stuff. However, they had few dangerous leader types, I mean not political or dangerous in that setting, more like involved in few murders. But that per se is not too dangerous nationally, or internationally. Something you have everywhere.

About that party, don't know about that one.

The race element makes them nazis (as opposed to just fascists) in my book. But they don't make any references to the old German kind of nazism. I wouldn't think "defending the Russian race" is compatible with that anway.

Gangerolf, yeah man I mean you can be a nazi and not about Germany. So I don't see why Russians could be nazis too if they wanted to. Sure it's controversial, but if oyu'd adopt the things, the generic principles and just fit your own home country as your base, well, that's it.

A week or so ago, a Russian court acquitted murderers of a small Azerbaijani girl (she was 7 or 9) who comitted the murder because of racial hatred. Recently, there was another murder of a similar girl for also racial reasons.

In St. Petersburg in particular, several black foreign exchange students get murdered every year. Moscow is "better", it usually ends with severe beating there.

Russian Skinheads Stab Muslim Girl In 'Bestial Murder'

MOSCOW, February 11 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - A nine-year-old Muslim Tajik girl was beaten and stabbed to death by Russian extremist neo-Nazis skinheads, severely wounding her father and 11-year-old cousin in St. Petersburg, press papers said on Wednesday, February 11.

"The girl received 11 knife wounds and died on the spot," said Yelena Ordynskaya, spokeswoman for the city's prosecution office.

The hate crime occurred at about 9 p.m. on Monday, February 9 at the centre of Russia's second city Saint Petersburg, the Moscow Times said.

The father, Yusuf Sultanov, a 35-year-old Tajik citizen, was returning home with his daughter Khursheda and nephew Alabir when 10 to 12 teenagers ran up from behind, St. Petersburg police said.

Sources of the Russian police said that teenagers wielding brass knuckles, chains, sticks and knives attacked the three, stabbing Khursheda 11 times in the chest, stomach and arms which led her to bleed to death.

The 11-year old boy, Alabir, survived as he ran under a nearby parked car until help arrived, the paper added.

However, he and the father sustained sever head injuries as the boy was taken to the hospital when as he was released Tuesday.

The Russian paper said that Yusuf refused to go to hospital and was treated at the scene of the attack.

A 'Bestial Murder'

The attack brought about anger from politicians who regarded the crime as "bestial murder".

"In our multi-ethnic country, the government can and must protect the interests of all residents, regardless of their ethnic background," said Ilya Klebanov, the presidential envoy to the Northwest Federal District.

"I have given strict orders to the Northwest's security services to mobilize all of their forces and toughen measures to prevent similarly disgraceful incidents," he added.

Klebanov, however, condemned the attack after holding a close-door meeting with top law enforcement calling it "cruelty reminiscent of the Middle Ages".

Nationalities Minister Vladimir Zorin said this "bestial murder ... is a bare-faced challenge to all of us."

"This shows us once again that we can't let up for even one minute in our fight against extremism," he was quoted by Interfax as saying.

"This crime must be solved, and the guilty parties brought to justice," Keblanov said.

Racist Attacks

Racist attacks against civilians from Russia's southern republics and other former Soviet republics occur regularly in large Russian cities as usually targeting Muslim students, the Moscow Times said.

The paper added that such actions caused the Russian President Vladimir Putin to demand that tougher laws be passed to prevent such crime.

However, legislators passed a law against extremism, but it was described by the human rights activists as powerless.

St. Petersburg has about 20,000 skinheads who were formerly convicted in similar crimes, the NTV television said.

Alarm Bells

On the other hand, the official representative of the Tajik community in St. Petersburg, Nazar Mirzada, rang alarm bells over such crimes.

Calling the attacks racially-motivated, Mirzada said that he plans to hold a meeting of community leaders to discuss the situation Wednesday.

"We need to warn our people to be careful, to help the family, and also prevent our community from reacting negatively," Mirzada said.

St. Petersburg prosecutors have opened a criminal inquiry into the killing.

Acting Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev has taken the case under his personal control and assigned top detectives to investigate, the ministry said in a statement.

Why aren't muslims pissed off? The answer is simple and easy. Russia does NOT bend over in half when someone shouts at them. They're like 'ok, shut up now'. The war toating radicals don't REALLY want war with Europe or the West either. They want to get what they want by threatning.

But Russia is not negotiating anything or giving ground because you shout at them or threaten them. And furthermore, they have the advantage of not thinking twice about busting you up if you don't take the hint. See Chechnya. The lesson that the radicals learn is, 'they will bust us up and don't even care to think about it twice or afterwards'.

If you were someone who thought, well, I need to get my voice out there and I need to protest, OK fine. BUt if you were one of them who said well, we need to start a holy war against Russia... you'd be the first to be driven over by them flying tanks. They know it and we know it. Thus, they don't try it.
