I'm Angry. Who Deserves My Wrath?

My daughter, Summer, has a boyfriend of 7 years or so named Luke. Luke had worked the last couple of years as a temporary tech at Samsung.

Being a temporary, he has no insurance, and they live in a more rural county north of Dallas, with no county hospital to speak of.

So here's the deal. He had one of his boys removed. He had to shop around for something he could afford.

Now he was diagnosed with what they think is a "not so bad" cancer in his lower lung. He can't get chemo. See above.
So I told him to go to Dallas county hospital, and give this address. That way he can be treated.

So who do I direct my anger and frustration?
I think to work anyone as a temp over the required 3 month contract without hiring is ethically bankrupt.

As far as medical facilities, this is what makes me think America needs socialized medicine.
With businesses abusing temps, and medical needs being unavailable to all, people like Luke get a royal ass screwing.

    So who? OR both?

    socialized medicine

someone I really care about is in need of it. no health insurance is not good. She is uninsurable due to prior medical conditions

Of course I have no health insurance either. My company does not provide it.

but nothing bad could happen to me. I'm healthy. And I'm a man. Men are in less need of health insurance.

Why is "medical" on your list? Can't see that they bear any responsibility here.

Why is "Congress" not on your list?

But "Business" is always a fine choice.

Medical, as in the planning of medical treatment for all.
I say business, too, because of being so low-life in many instances.

Whatever else you can blame the medical profession for, you can't blame them for not giving away their services for free, especially in a capitalist society.

Husband in similar situation. Worked for the same company for the last 14 years but since it's small one man owned company they don't get insurance. I had to go back to work and find a job that would provide insurance so he could get coverage.

Sloww I used to work for Temp agencies, does his agency not offer any type of insurance? All the ones I worked for here did. Expensive, yes, but offered none the less. Sorry to hear about this. Cancer sucks in all forms, will keep a good thought for him.

Business. Not all businesses have such anti employee policies. Unfortunately many do.

    Just to sing his praises:

My father-in-law owns a small business (under 20 employees) in Texas, and the first thing he did when the business took off -- long before buying himself the Lexus or the McMansion -- was to provide health insurance for all his employees.

Businessmen don't have to be evil bastards.

Steve's boss offered his employees the option for insurance but they didn't want it. Guess it would take money out of their pocket.

No One... You cant be angry with the med field they havent done anything right yet. You are right to be angry but i doubt it can be direted to any one source. Luke has a problem instead of geting mad direct that frustration to trying to help fix the problem, his problem to be exact. Ok he has been dealt a sucky deal, but this can be helped since it is caught early. I will tell you he will have to go thorugh having part of his lung removed and then chemo. he will not live very long if this is not done. best bets are to get him in the community state hospital. he may be treated as a homeless person but i guarantee any treatment is better then none.
Trust me tuber works his ass off to pay for the health insuance we have and it sucks balls.... I mean who the hell needs insurance if you have to pay a 400 dollar deductible. If i could do that why would i need insurance
When you find yourself arguing with an idiot, you might want to rethink who the idiot really is.

You should get mad at people who vote Republican. Had Clinton's healthcare act been passed, he would have insurance.

I really want to understand why anyone would say "both." How is the medical profession to blame here? It's not like they're refusing to treat the guy; they're just charging for their services. I'm sure they don't give a damn who pays them -- the guy, his insurer, the government, whoever. His failure to be able to pay, though, is teh fault of his cheap-ass employer (business), the evil, evil health insurance companies (business), and a feckless Congress that won't do anything about the sorry state of US health care.
