  • Slowing Down Barbarians

Has anyone given any thought to the best way to slow down the rate at which barbarians spawn? I found some stuff in CIV4HandicapInfo.xml that looks like it could probably do the job, but before I start tinkering myself, I thought I'd see whether anyone else has given any thought to the issue.

I was looking at that myself. I have mixed feelings about barbs. Sometimes they're just too much, but overall I like having them as they are. However, I figure if you use the numbers for Settler level, you'll still get enough of them but not to the point of being overwhelming.

      handicap info works

I adjusted it in my mod to make the barbarians more aggressive, and it worked fine. Presumably doing the reverse will also work. I'd just increase the unowned land per barb to lower the spawn rate.

I would sure like to slow down babarians on marathon map, they spawn way too often. At some point very early it gets to the point where I have one attack per turn, but no chance of building units fast enough to defend against them, and my units didn't have time to heal
This space is empty... or is it?

Yes, great way to gain experience.
