Can I do these actions in Civ IV?

    Can I:

Purchase units in my production queue and not have to wait for the endless turns needed to produce them?

    See my city close up?

    See my palace close up?

    1. Yes, but only if you have the universal suffrage civic enacted (slavery civic if you want to rush by sacrificing population).

    2. Not in a city view, but if you zoom right in you can see all the buildings on the map itself.

    3. No.

To hurry-with-gold or pop-rush you need the appropriate civic. Sorry, not at home right now, don't remember which civics (unique civic required for either method).

To see your city close up, just zoom in. You can see EACH building or wonder you built. If that doesn't suit you, try the flying mouse (Ctrl-F, I think) which lets you get even closer!

The palace improvements module to the game missed the bus. It was not ready in time for release, don't know if it will be in an update or an expansion.

Poprush - Slavery is the civic (available early - bronze working)
Cashrush - Universal Suffrage is the civic (available late - ?? democracy??)

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Well, yeah, the Pyramids open up all 5 civics in that category. Although I'd typically use Representation instead...

Just to the left of the minimap, above the governor controls, below the Draft button. If you hover over them, they will tell you the cost even if you cannot afford it (i.e., they are greyed out).

They'll even tell you the cost if you don't have that civic or even the technology for it. This can be useful in deciding whether you want to snag bronze working or not, though usually the answer for that is going to be yes regardless.
