Could we get a french language thread?

I was thinking if maybe there could be a french language thread similar to the suomithread. Any chances of that happening or allowing us?

I guess we have to first see if there are enough people willing to do it, but i guess we could ask around.
If you're worried about moderating it, you can also appoint someone who speaks french to moderate it.

Well that was the response last time someone asked. There seems to be some trouble that mods don't speak/understand French (or Finnish), and are worried that the threads will be abused with naughty words or whatever. If I had more time at the moment, then I'd volunteer to police this thread to get one of the mods to alter any posts with such language in, but I haven't.
Ask again in three weeks!

MtG actually speaks Spanish, and contrary to what Ming et all usually says, there were Spanish threads before non-English threads got banned, so it should be "grandfathered" like Finnish was.

And if you allow a French thread... you will have to allow every other language thread... Unless the owners have changed their minds on this matter, it ain't going to happen. If you are interested in posting in another language, I'm sure their are tons of sites/forums that would love to have you join them

It's so hard to resist, though - I don't know how many times I've seen this exact same thread. Just let the Finns have their privileges and move on!

ok, but if we can get a moderator, what is the problem? I thought the main sticking point was that there was no mod. it seems to me if we can get one, it wouldnt be a problem? or have i maybe missed something?

I think the argument is that significantly more people here speak French than those other languages. I'm not sure if it's true, but I see French come up a lot more often than some other language.

This is an English Language site... If you want to post in French, there are a ton of other places you can do so.
