  • Yep, Kassiopeia. That quest is obtained from Devona in that small cute village outside of that Abbey. I believe it's the one where you have to speak to several people to test the populace's loyalty for the king.

Imran - welcome! Do feel free to look up me if you want - IGN: Sarak Layghlin. Add that and if I'm on one of other characters I have, I will still show up on your list. I cannot do anything for you while you're in pre-searing but post-searing is one other matter.

I recommend the following links for you to check out...

I strongly recommend that with your first character, avoid any runners like plaque. This is an opportunity to learn how to play the game as effectively as you can and relying upon runners won't help you at all in that department. I suppose it's ok with your other toons after you're more seasoned but I am personally against running. I've not had any of my four slots ran up to this point.

And a shameless plug here - you are more than welcome to join my guild, Synful Desire . If you plan to be a hardcore PvPer or want to be in a guild that's obsessed about GvGing, my guild is probably not for you but you can always quit and join some other guild at anytime with no penalty at all.

    • Thanks guys

Right now in n00bville (aka, pre-searing I've done all the quests except "Beyond the Wall". I'm midway through Lvl 6. After that quest, I think I'll be able to hit 7, and then go through searing. I'm a Warrior/Elemental (though seriously thinking of creating a new character Necromancer/Warrior perhaps), with about 9 skills (one can't fit... so I have to make a choice)

      avoid any runners like plaque

      What's a runner, btw?

you are more than welcome to join my guild, Synful Desire

Thanks My name is "Kat Stormfrost", so if you invite me, I'll accept .

And I don't think I'm going to be all into fighting against other players.. more into PvE stuff

      • Now I'm in post searing .

Level 7, 50% done. Almost died out there with a henchman healer doing a quest. I may need to find some likeminded individuals... or more henchmen .

        • A runner is what I tried to describe.

Later on you get certain benefits from having access to towns or outposts for higher level players. Mainly for the services and items sold there, which are better than in the lower level zones. A runner is a high level player, who drugs and buffs himself up in a way, that he can run through such a zone solo, avoiding monsters or, if caught, escaping by speed and dodging their hits with his buffs.

Such a player will group with lower level players for a fee and, using the feature that one zoning player zones the whole group, get them through the high level zones to give them access to the endgame outposts. Another use for "running" is to get players through the newbie areas (and thus, make them skip the content designed for them) quickly and without effort, as many quests consist just in reaching the next area and hailing the right NPC. Mind you that you can always port back to areas, where you have already been.

You'll soon hear shouts "running to Droknars" or "running to the Temple". Barinthus is right, avoid them for better game experience. It's simplay not worth to skip half the game to get to überness quickly. At least for your first character, but I'd recommend for all others too.

Oh, btw you'll have like 60-80 skills and 20-30 elite skills later on, so your choice which to take will be yet more painful, but the game gets more interesting.

          • Ah, thanks for the info. I haven't joined with any runners. I 'went across the wall' with some guy when we were both lvl 6 for a quest. We tried to take on some charr over there and got our asses handed to us. So we just avoided them...

Then went to the academy and kick the utter crap out of the other team and then easily did the quest after.

I'm in this to enjoy the ride rather than powergame. I've never been a powergamer in any game I've played. So no runners for me .

            Thanks for the warning though.

Wow, what hardcore version of the game do you play in Germany?

              • Also, I agree on not running for your first few chars. The plot is rubbish, but you might as well see it at least once!

My last 3 got a lot of runs though.

                • Yeah, running first time isn't any fun, but luckily my guildie friend was a W/Mo who specialised in running, so I got my two other PvE characters ran to Droknar's and LA for free.

                  • Woot!

Thanks Barinthus. I'm now a member of a Guild, and have found Piken's Square. I have little desire now to start over with a Necromancer character . I'll go on with my Warrior/Elementalist.

                    • U guys do know it's free preview weekend for Factions right now?

I've been playing a ritualist, an assassin, along with a mesmer and a warrior. I found Ch 2 to be much more challenging.

                          • I played a little bit and the content looks quite good. I'm playing A/Rt because I want to check out the new skills. The assassin is pretty cool. Just have to remember to get in do damage and get out.

Oblivion is definately drawing me away from GW though.

                            • For assassin it's obvious, but what type of class is ritualist?

                              • Ritualist is a hybrid I think, depending on the build it can heal or do damage or support the party with its spirits.
