  • Sound problem in scenarios with XP?

I have recently installed civ2 on my new computer, but have a problem with sound in scenarios.

Civ2 normally uses the sound files from the default sound folder when playing a scenario. Now, civ2 will only use the sound files from the scenario's sound folder, and plays no other sounds. This means scenarios without fullblown sound effects are basically silent.

Anyone who has met and managed to solve this strange problem? I've been looking and hunting high and low for a solution, but can't seem to find one anywhere. Any suggestions?

My PC runs windows XP, but otherwise runs civ2 without any problems at all.

I have had the same problem with XP.

The solution is to copy the sounds from the master set to the scenario's sound folder, pressing N repeatedly to not over-write the custom sounds. It might take up some space but with an XP machine, there usually is plenty of disk space anyway.
