Firaxis shouldn't waste resources on silly demos.

99% of all demos released doesn't really show how the game is, except if you have abselutely no idea at all what the game is about
In only shows the basic interface, but except from that it can't be used... I would defently prefer to have the game released earlier than to have them waste time on a demo

I like demos because they let you lnow if the game can run on your computer.
Apart from that, they may tell if you'll loathe the game, but not much else.

I really liked the SMAC demo. 100 turn limit as I recall.

For those of us with older computers, a demo would help a lot. If I'm not confident it's at least playable, I'm not likely to buy it right away.

I'd even like to beta test the game, even though it probably contains 1000+ bugs and has lots of missing features and what else can be in the beta... so far I haven't heard about a leaked beta though

I am exactly what they need: A regular guy, not so good, not so bad, playing in a regular computer, not so new, not so old, at average levels, not too low, not too high... Well, you got the pic.

kinda like going to a big city/urban environment with plenty to do and doing a survey on best TV shows when they should go to an area with less available entertainment with the people whom actually watch the shows.

Demos are not a waste.

SMAC proved that a 100 turn limit demo can make you fall in love with a game and beg for more.

I still think that a lack of a demo very often indicates a publishers lack of faith in their own game.

I used the word even because I know a lot of people who don't want to touch beta software

Most of my offline friends, and I've read several (read: many) posts (on different forums*) by some people I've forgotten who directly said they didn't want to try beta software because it can ruin the gaming experience when the full game is released and it crashes all the time, and lots of features are missing and bla bla bla

Yes, actually I also said something to that extent here, that being an early beta tester can ruin some of the gaming experience (early as in not getting an advance copy a month before release, but testing during production). However, if I were offered a position on the beta team, I'm not sure I'd be able to refuse, this being Civ .
