Most random radio station I have ever heard.

Is this new, or is "formatless" radio ongoing?

    I think I like it.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

The same f*cking radio station exists in Calgary and Toronto, at the very least.

I have never heard in the New York market, but apparently they just started in Kansas City -- maybe it's a Canadian thing?

AS ASher says, there is a Jack FM in Calgary and the ads make the same 'we play what we want' claim--I haven't listened much but I get the sense they don't just repeatedly play the current top 40 like some stations do

They have the same ads/slogans/format at the Toronto one, and Vancouver one IIRC.

Sounds good, but student radios already do it.

The station I listen to is similar, but without the really awful stuff (Madonna, No Doubt, etc.). They don't have a playlist, but they do repeat a lot of the new pop rock stuff a few times over the day. They take occasional requests throughout the day, and have two dedicated request blocks per day, which adds a lot of variety.

This station dosen't take requets, but I don't mind. I really enjoy the "grab bag" feel of it.

It's sorta like what happens when I put my entire mp3 collection on "random".

And in Philly it's "Ben FM: We play whatever we want."

I wonder how they decide what name to use in each market...

In fact I think thay have segments where people call in to make requests and they hang up or otherwise reject the caller's request

iPod Shuffle does that and has no ads.
