The thing with 50/50 F/T fleet is that it needs a MTT-based start. While the first wave strength is 150bp, it forces the laser user to use spread out. Spread out is a double edged sword as it is what makes first turn attacks viable, but it makes the counter so much more powerful.

A turn two attack with MTT LFF, back off can do from 2/3 damage to 1 (total destruction of enemy) at 50/50 chance against a MLL close in spread out fleet.

A MTT LFF fleet would be beaten by my LML TFF fleet. Admittedly i'd take a lot of damage - i'd never attack someone with only exactly their BP worth of fleet if I could avoid it - but i'd have 90 bp left of ships after three waves, to zero of the T-F fleet.

Chapter 3.3
Holy Shield!

Here is something to think about

The wind blew so hard on the sea that the waters were divided. There was a wall of water on each side as the children of Israel hurried through on dry ground. When Mr. Y's army chased after them God caused the engines on the dreadnaughts to fall off and they couldn't move them! When the children of Israel were safely on the other side, Moses again stretched out his hand and the waters let loose and drowned the army in the sea. With this miraculous parting of the Red Nebula, God provided an escape for the children of Israel from Mr. Y's army .

While others rampaged through the galaxy, Mr. Y had been quietly building his fleet in his secret hideaway on the far side of Moolah. Today though, he decided it was time for the hunt, and off he rode into battle with all 76 tons of his fleet.

Decelerating into orbit around JEBUS, his torpedo ships spotted signs of past conflict. He smiled. It was always good to attack a weakened enemy. Several Dreadnaught hulks drifted aimlessly.

"Boss, something looks very wrong."

"What is it now?"

"Energy readings show no sign of battle. I have feared this from the start. It might be a... *static*"

The lead torpedo dreadnaught ground itself to a fine powder against the electric barrier. A second one stopped, but not before taking heavy damages that would require repairs.

Chapter 3.4
Bad Omen

Here is something to think about

Even the giant squid has natural enemies.

The tentacles surged forward from their dark Axian cave, but the daring adventurer stood his ground. Many myths and legends warned of these great space beasts, but in this industrial age, there was little that the trusty deathray-pistol couldn't dispatch with a couple of beams.

Aiming the gun at the space squid's ovoid eye, the man sqeezed the trigger. The ten-meter-wide disk was too big to miss. He heard no screams on the airless moon, but judging from the creature's thrashing, it looked like he'd just made the catch of the century.

A few more shots and the tentacles collapsed to the ground at last.

"It takes evil to fight evil" mumbled Vetko as he creeped past the squid, passing by the shredded wrecks of several unlucky frigates. No treasure lay in this cave, but the prize was even bigger- the Agatharian communication switches. A few well placed explosives blasted the infernal machine as the intruder made a quick exit back into deep space.

Panic ensued as the lines went dead in the Temple of the Moon. There would be no way the fleet could be readied for battle now. Min Grah would have to fight this one alone.

I translate that to mean that a spy from Lord Vetko (Lord Nuclear) attacked Geomodder (Min Grah) but as Min Grah would "have to fight this one alone" perhaps there was no spy and Lord Nuclear attacked GeoModders undefended bases?

Chapter 3.5
Mixed Blessing

Here is something to think about

Min Grah's posse was already on the trail to the Ventissian hideout on Zol when word finally reached Grah of the sabotage on Axis. It was too late to call back the attack though, as his fleet was already deep inside Ventis space.

Though he'd be fighting without his partner, Min was hardly worried. He'd brought most of his fleet and even though he was packing no heatray, he had ten titans in action.

Better yet, no enemy ships had been seen yet. Had he caught the enemy out of town? Min called for a closer scan. Trouble. The enemy Titans were dead ahead. Too late to abort now... but why weren't they firing? Were maneuvers being planned?

SPLAT.

Hmm, now I am wondering if MORON (Agath Agathen) was supposed to attack with GeoModder, but a spy from Lord Vetko (Lord Nuclear) kept him from attacking (meaning that Min Grah/GeoModder had to attack Skanky on his own???).

Edit: But as it is now after 1 am here, I think I had best wait for tomorrow to see the end of this story, though I did hope to see who participated in the one attack

System Failure

Scratch that thing about there being a battle this round. It's more like a one sided beatdown.

While the Robot might have staved off defeat for a few more hours had he not squandered 24 build points on a carbuncle of a space station, against the combined firepower of the Vetko-Siffan alliance, there was nothing he could do. Shields would have saved him like the others, but alas, he had not raised them.

Vetko, having gotten the extra spoils in the last battle, took three of the seven bases, while Siffan would rule the other four.

While Vetko and Siffan's victory had assured that Lazors remained the last word in conquest, the power of the Electric Shield is not to be underestimated.

So far none has fared the ultimate misfortune yet of having one's home bases captured while off to fight a futile battle. But it may only be a matter of time.

Until then, scenes like this over JEBUS will haunt those vanguard captains for whom their first blood proved to be their own.

So here would be a chance to see whether the shield less survive or perish. In the last game, all players caught shieldless was elimated as the other shieldess chase each other in endless attack that writtle down their strenght in a futile attempt to survive.
