Well, the last sign up thread found HERE only generated 4 players signing up after an extended period, so the game pretty much died.

It did have a core group of gamers, but Gladiator was one of the games you had to make sure you were available for an extended period, and it seems that proved to be difficult for the majority of the interested players.

It's a shame it died though, as you are right, it was one of the best reads (for lurkers) and I for one appreciated the games even without participating. to those that played, and those that GM'd (the GM in Gladiator was at least as important as any of the players in my opinion...as in most of the Forum Games I suppose, but moreso in Gladiator, because without a good GM, both to keep the game moving and to provide an interesting storyline, the game is essentially reduced to 3 sets of numbers totalling 100....not that interesting by itself).

Well if we have 4 or 8 I don't mind a straight tourney. With different numbers the knockout phase may be necessary. Personally I think it adds variety, though I also prefer the knockouts.

I've come up with a solution of how everyone can play including the GM.

There is the GM and theer are two assistant GMs and they process the fights they are not in. A table of matches GMed by different GMs should be made and that's essentially it.

The first gladiator we did take it in turn GMs.

That's 6. I believe Theben and Spaced Cowboy can easily be persuaded. That's eight. We can start the quarterfinals since Jam hates round robin. I love it on the other hand and I suggest we play a solely round robin tourney one day.

Oops, though I enjoy reading this game, my orders are largely guesswork, and I am terrible at the strategy of htis game . Having said that I would happily participate in the game, however I am away for most of the end of February.

Therefore, unless you plan to start March 1 or later, I must decline.

In that case we'll start the game with four players and me as the GM. We'll go straight to teh semis. There will be a fight for the third place too. That way we'll finish the game by the beginning of March, in time for another eight players game.
