  • No more turns forever. Simul turns rock! :)

    YES!!
This is it. NO more regular CIV for me!
Huge maps and 1x1x. The game with Jedi, Markus and PCH was a blast.
No bugs detected. We went from 4000BC to Industrial age in 6 hours!
Hard game. No time to eat. Actually, we did breaks, because they were needed!
Also, a simul turns game, when reloaded, will still be simul.
The last line in CIV.INI "Simultaneous=1" is a must.
I even changed the CIV.INI file to read-only, so the line is not written over by CIV.
Great Christmas gift to all Civers around the world!

    One more thing:
Now we can have games with 4 or more people, and turns will not take ages to complete.

    This is cool and neat!

Yeah. How it will be when you have 2 humans attacking you at the same time? (he he he )
You opponent has Magellan's. You and your ally bash on him. How will be the sea batle. He can move longer, but you both can attack at the same time.
Looks like new strategs are coming in. LOL

Is anyone planning a session later today? I just have to try this out!

BtW, no crashes or bugs found yet?

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

I need you guys to get as far as fighters...

Test this: You send a fighter out of a city to attach a fortified unit (important that unit doesn'tmove for the test). You tell the fighter to attack the stationary land target. It then carries out the attack in simul-turn... but fighters have to land after they attack unlike bombers. At the end of the action, will the fighter linger as if you used the technique of using the pulldown menu to end the turn with a fighter still in the air? Or will it crash?
You guys sasid you almost got to battleships last time...so stick around a little longer and test out those fighters.
                Thanks.

Why don't you just whip up a scenario and try it your self? I'll take a look when I get home.

See, this makes me uneasy. I don't want this game to be like Warcraft, where victory goes to the fastest clicker with the best Internet connection. I think simultaneous moves would be great for speeding along the early part of the game, but I'm now reconsidering whether it's a good thing to have when humans are fighting each other. Unfortunately, it appears the simultaneous option stays when you load a saved game, so it apparently isn't possible to use the different options for different parts of the game as just suggested.

Well I tried it and it worked out fine. I made a program at the civfanatic forum with a program that will do that for you. If you want to give it a try. It's pretty simple to use.

But the fighters all just kept moving.
