    Yes, this is certainly a game of alliances... much more so than in the past.

    we're waiting on muxec, spaced, and jonny, I think.

    It's all right though- I was blasted off the net for 1-2 days due to a bad connection- so I wasn't able to access anything online- so I got help on improving the Society program from an expert. (There should be less bugs now)

    Very Impressive

    One thing I didn't like on first review is it seems to process orders one player at a time whereas in the game you need to be able to process the different segments before moving on to the next (Espionage, then Trade, then Production(Science, Cities, Wonders, Military), then Foreign Aid, then Wars and lastly Taxation.

    The way it is set up I had difficulty with moving between the different societies and the different phases. For instance I did a test where Smiley was player one and Muxec was player 2 and they both researched tech 2. For Smiley the cost was 4 gold, for Muxec I couldn't figure out how to keep the cost at 4 gold, it wanted to change to 3 as Smiley had already researched the tech.

    (But this is a minor complaint, as I said the program is quite impressive even though you need to tweak it still). I intend to try it with all the orders from Game 4 and see if I come out with the same results as my spreadsheet...though the rules have changed slightly since game 4, so it might not be a perfect comparison). Haven't had time to test in that detail however, hopefully this weekend.

    Well, I can very easily process one stage at a time, all I do is switch between the players.

    Right now I have to do the tech thing manually, but I know what I'm doing.

    DAY 5:End of A Struggle

    On January 1, 1000 AD, The Emperor of the Empire of Enlightenment, Jonny, was executed after troops from the Coven of Hawks descended upon his empire.

    In the town square, the General, under orders from Elector Sparrow himself, carried out the orders, putting an end to the life of the tyrant and striking fear into the heart of his ally, the Dictator Whoha of the Most Evil of Empires.

    In other events, Spaced Cowboy's scientists, researching nuclear fission split the atom and discovered nuclear power.

    Smiley meanwhile, embarked on a massive "family-building program" resulting in the founding of about 12 new cities (give or take) spreading across the landscape.

    Spaced Cowboy- that was my fault- I couldn't find any names for his- I'll fix it

    I think I calculated everythign correct thist time- although Sparrow seems to have way too much gold... but then again he is a republic.

    Also- I DID NOT count the caputured cities towards his gold total, so don't worry about that.

    Gee- I'm glad that turn's over with. 45 minutes of processing the orders that I could- then 1:30 of manual fixes... then another hour of converting it toward documentable form

    But considering my math skills- it's probably still for the best that I have this program!

    The ever shrinking space is soon going to raise an issue that has been dealt with differently in the last two games but not resolved in the rules as of yet.

    When two societies send in orders to build a city in the same square, the first to send orders would normally get the city (I think). The second to send in orders would then get an alternate site, choosen by the GM in a way to minimize borders, unless the player had given alternate locations.

    As we run out of city sites however, there are going to be more requests for new cities then there is available space to build them.

    In game 4 the first person to send in orders got the new cities.
    In game 5 the total number of cities requested was used to give an appropriate ratio to the societies trying to build in those spots.

    the way I was planning on apportioning out hte cities was to give it half and half- if two people conflicted, the one who first sends in orders gets city A built ... then the next one gets city B...

    a simple system... I think.

    In rereading the rules on Government and Trade, it doesn't specifically say that Republic has an effect on both trade by the Republic and trade to the republic, so maybe I just assumed this, but I have been assuming it in every game I have been a part of.

    Maybe Smiley or Spaced or both can provide some input?
