OK, new problem!

i save my scenario as a .dot save in my map directory and load the scenario from the file directly... but i can never get more than ONE other civ to play with me...i set start locations for 8 civs and only get the two! what am i doing wrong?

What do you mean by "load the scenario from the file directly"?

I believe you mean from the "Saved" file directly?

I dont think you can load from within the file system a save
