Like a sneaky old bugger, I have been working away on the 3rd version of my what-if modern scen.
Learning from the recent Dictator experience;
This scen will have a new map and will be a vastly different trip from the previous efforts.
A devasted post-atomic world, and 7 evil civs building empires in the rubble!
Tech will be slow, and only through trade will you push the discovery envelope.
So...Where is it at?
I have finished updating and making the units.
Most of the graphics are done. (minus the new icons and terrain)
The text content like the rules are still to be finalised.
Now I have a choice!
Shall I make this new episode for MGE or give it the enhanced graphics and events of ToT?
Using ToT would allow extensive events and nice looking units.
For those who have seen the ones I tweaked for Bitterfrost II this is the calibre to expect.
An extra 20 units will enable me to add an extra epoch of space age deadly units to the tree.
I am not going to proceed until I decide what CIV platform to use.
Perhaps you fine bunch can help me decide!
Over to you!

I voted for MGE at first, more people will probably play it if you make it for MGE. But then I realised, those space units sounds really interesting. SO you should probably do it for ToT. And more people should get ToT!![]()

I voted Banana since it IS CIv2 - no matter which kind of
Btw, if I can be of any help, just gimme a ring, won´t you?

ToT. I guess I just want designers to keep on 'pushing the envelope'.![]()

Let's face it. We can theorize about ToT's versatility, superiority or whatever but this means absolutely nothing unless such scenarios are made that prove the point by exploiting these advanced features(like those by Tecumseh, Boco, Kestral, you and very few others)
The more fine ToT scenarios are out there, the less the ToT/MGE dilema will make any sense.
I only wish some recent ToT scenarios had been made 3-4 years ago.
Go ToT. It will make you feel better. If it wasn't what you really wanted, you wouldn't be making an issue of it.
Do you want me to count how many times you 've already said "if this was ToT..." in this very forum?
Follow your heart.
Do it your way.
Make a point.

Looks like I better make a Vendetta folder in my ToT game!

As long as you can help me 'find' a 'cheap' copy of ToT
[Edit:]
And i would love to see multiple maps....

@N35t0r
I don't think I want to know what you mean by 'find' and 'cheap'.
I picked up a copy for $8 US on E-bay a month ago. The CD was $2, the rest was highway robbery. There were lots of TOT's for sale at about that price.
I also picked up a near terminal case of utter frustration trying to set up an account at Pay Pal.That came free with the CD.
Is that 'cheap' enough?
Meanwhile.....
Up MGE! Enough of those dismal TOT maps and unit icons with potato masher handgrenades floating above their heads! No more city window with a color scheme that would delight a vampire! Only the cobwebs are missing!![]()

This is selfish, but I say MGE.

Ehhhhhhhhh, ok fine, TOT. I guess I should learn it one day.

Agricola: Curt's right - all the graphics can be changed in exactly the same way as other versions of civ (see my comments in Tech's OMG thread). Stick with it and you'll be amazed with what's possibleOriginally posted by AGRICOLA

The only thing you're stuck with is the 'potato-masher' health bar, although this can be tweaked graphically and also repositioned with Merc's civ-sprite utility.
Curt if you could send me over the new flag graphics I'd love to update that title.gif for you.
If you don't mind making them public just post'em here, or if you want to keep them secret for now just e-mail them to me at Chris_Hudzieczko@Hotmail.com

Here is a taste of what might be in the ToT version..
Jabo-68 Stuka II (bomber)
Jabo-88 Habicht (bomber)
Jagd-70 Zerstorer (fighter)
PS
Sarsstock, I will send you the city file ASAP...!

Look forward to getting the file Curt. Now just so I got this straight, this game takes place several years after the top gun era 1980's expansion of the six declared superpowers? Where the G.E.U. and terrorist states were all swallowed up leaving no more room for expasion without all out war resulting? And this game is the race to rebuild after such a war?

Go with ToT. The extra versatility it gives you, with regards to extra units, maps and events will help you flesh out the Vendetta universe far more than in the previous version (I thought the first incarnation of Vendetta did a pretty good job of painting a picture of a dark, nightmarish world of totalitarianism, but Vendetta 2 somehow lost this. Perhaps now is your chance to reclaim it?)

@Sarsstock:
Yep, this one is set around 1985, with new civs, new units and a far darker horizon...
@Paul Hanson:
I am confident that ToT will give my the medium to repaint the grim Vendetta world.
I plan this time to take the concept into extremes,
with the two main protagonists being far more evil than before!
@I'll be in touch - Wanna try some bitmap tweaking?

ToT vote, here
"I'm a guy - I take everything seriously except other people's emotions"
"Never play cards with any man named 'Doc'. Never eat at any place called 'Mom's'. And never, ever...sleep with anyone whose troubles are worse than your own." - Nelson Algren
"A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic." - Joseph Stalin (attr.)

Alright, it has to be in TOT. I just ordered the full version.
Curt, are we going to see space colonies, astronauts, and space shuttles?
@N35t0r - If you trust me, I can mail it to you. I'll give you my address for shipping.
Dude I would love to see the space shuttle in this scenario. Plus it would be amazing to see the German take on the space shuttle.
Though, I always thought it was interesting that in real life our old friends the Soviets had tested a space shuttle of their own only to abandon the project. They thought it seemed that it was just too damn expensive.

Well it was expensive, the Soyuz was much cheaper to put in orbit. But that's a tale in its own. I think something like a cool needle craft would be right for the Germans.
Well, as great as it would be to see these great orbiting vehicles, what role could they have in the game? Unless the scenario itself is to take place on the moon, what could the space vehicles acomplish? Some sort of ultra long range transport?
