So what's the deal now? I think we are pretty much ready to start (provided I get this damn mod working). But I have to know who is in and who is out? Does 10 am EST work for everyone?

10 am EST. The baby may or may not be napping, so I may not be able to pay any attention to what is going on.

I've already tried MP. It just doesn't suit me. I'm slow and careful. I don't know why, but I like to micromanage the cities. I missed about half my turns and never developed a coherent strategy. It just doesn't suit me and thats why I hate it.

when you say "MOD" what does or doesnt this thing do?

Yea, it'd be a scenario. You wouldn't alter any of the civ3 files.

Basically all it does at this point is have my map, add in this hot air balloon unit (which i think is cool), and change the babylonians to israelis and update their leader names and city list and such.

Ok, I've finished the file. Everything should be perfect (cross your fingers). Some notes on the mod and map.

MOD:
I modified the Babylonians to be the Israelis. The UU is the same (bowman), I adjusted the city names, leader names, and I made their traits religious and agricultural which seem more fitting for Israel.

I added one unit, a hot air balloon, cause it seemed cool and I wanted to play around with adding units. Its 0-0-1, with 2 space visability and treats all terrain as roads. It comes available at invention and costs 30 sheilds. Basically its purpose is to provide some reconasince for invading armies with its extra visability.

Since the Atlantic ocean is kinda small on this map, I modified the galley and curaugh so they are unable to enter ocean squares. No early trips to America. This I think is actually a cool improvement over Civ2, cause we can push back the age of discovery until caravels. This is more realistic too.

MAP:
I found a standard sized earth map and I tweaked it to be a little less horrible. Its not perfect (i'm rather perfectionist with maps) but its good enough. There are 5 of each resource and luxury, so there are no surplus, just enough for each of us.

I've placed the resources in fairly historical spots, but for somethings (like aluminum, salt pepper, etc) I just made stuff up because I don't know where in the world is known for their salt pepper.

Some regions have concentrations of some luxuries and/or resources. For example most of the silk is in China and most of the oil is in the Mideast. I think this will make the game more interesting as it forces us to trade (or conquer to get resources). Sometimes the last remaining strategic resource may be scattered in some random spot on the globe like South America or Australia, so that adds something to the age of colonialism.

To ensure a more balanced start I put an iron and horse relatively near everyone's start. Its not perfect though, so there are no guarantees you'll get one, but it should be within your sphere of influence.

Ok, the game is starting now, so I'm hoping to see some opening posts from people. (some introduction story before the game starts) And again, please confirm whether you can start this Saturday. Thanks.

Ok, download this .rar file (like a .zip file, but better), and unzip it in your conquest scenario folder. (civ3/conquests/scenario). It should work just fine. If there are any problems, let me know.

The map needs to be in the main scenario folder, and the folder "The Dawn of the Third Age" needs to be in the main scenario folder. (i.e. both in civ3/conquests/scenario).

Open the game like normal and click on Civ-Content, you should have a list of different maps and scenarios, one of them should be "Earth(standard)Ozzy" click on that and you're set.

I'm down for a play test. Though we don't have much time left.

Also, diplogames usually opperate with 2 threads. The story thread and the discussion thread. The story thread should be only for in character stories and diplomacy.

All OCC stuff (like getting the file to work, scheduling, etc) should stay here.
