  • Are you ready for the Fifth Dawn?

    Previews started yesterday!

Word on the streets is there's a new ability that encourages you to play all five colors. But there's no official word on that yet. Here's what we have seen so far, starting with Raksha Golden Cub:
Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.

Well, according to Mark Rosewater the fourth member of the Fifth Dawn design team was some random civilian guy who they dug up showing off his wannabe home-made Magic cards at an event.

I'm gonna be running the cards they show under the magnifying glass. Except Arcbound Wanderer (I presume the rumor about that guy is true, but I don't know for sure).

Oldest edition? That would be worth a fortune. If you wanted to sell it, you could probably buy Nauru and name it after yourself.

I have two more Fifth Dawn cards previewed by the usually-boring Brian David-Marshall. The first is Bringer of the Black Dawn, an powerful and expensive character who may not be as hard to get into play as he first looks.

And then we have Joiner Adept, another rare character who can help you get your Bringer into play.

(Is it just me, or have there already been two cards with quasi-clothed females in the art? Really targeting the 14-year-old male market, I guess)

                    Tell me about it!

And while you are, can you tell me what the heck an "Orrery" is?

An Orrery is a mechanical model of the celestial bodies, normally with the sun in the centre, and the planets rotating around it.

A card likely headed to the B&R list.

The Orrery should have been given a name less specific to Mirrodin, make it easier to reprint. A card that needed making for a very long time!

They should have made it affect everyone, though. Interesting that they gave Skullclamp to Gottlieb for Darksteel... they like giving him the Spike-Jonny cards, I guess.
                          All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

Maybe they don't want to reprint the Orrery . . . It does seem a little very powerful.

Today's card I find a little bland for something ostensibly based on Old Man of the Sea.
