last night: penalties
The following have been banned from posting for 3 days for posting on the 150 thread despite ming's warning:
cthol, DarthVeda, Boshko, The Brain, legman, Talon2, UEC, Fjorxc, Sir_Crusader, Thucydides, Ghost Ham, Lancer, Jasonian, The Mad Monk, nimrod., empress, atahualpa , cybershy, mark l
the following are banned and get a post count reduction for posting in the same thread and creating a double login. in parentheses are the dl's of each one:
matt higgs(therock, thedick, Doink the clown): 21 days, 30%
fadoba(abobaF): 7 days, 10%
ghen(ghen's philosophical DL, spoon made of silver, ghen's third DL): 24 days, 30%
djugasvili(Fight Like A Brave, Renwaldo84): 17 days, 20%
coug(T-Head, Baruk Khazad): 17 days, 20%
connorkimbo(Lyricist, Renwaldo84, L. Pelagi): 24 days, 30%
giant squid(Moroteuthis Robustis, creation of Renwaldo85, L. Pelagi, Ly-Cilph): 17 days, 20%
technophile(Herr Glockenspiel): 10 days, 10%
the following is banned and gets a post count reduction for creating a double login:
stodlum(MinglenarkosQ,Blitzkrieger): 14 days, 20%
our hope is that everyone now understands that one must:
1) fully read a post of an admin/moderator, especially if it has phrases in CAPITALS
2) post in the right thread and forum, especially if it is specified by an admin/moderator
3) if disabled, and feel like complaining, to do so via mail, not by creating a double login
please discuss the issue only on this thread. dont clutter the OT with unrelated threads

I think a warning should have been sufficient for the ones who didn't create double log-ons. I did see Ming's 150+ thread - but didn't read it. I may have posted on a large thread myself out of ignorance.
It is sort of a minor sin, but the punishment isn't too nasty.
Markos/Ming/DanQ - Have you reconfigured the forums so that treads seal themselves after 150 posts? I'm not a very fast typer. If I thought my post would be # 148 in a thread, and 3 others posted while I was typing, would I be punished? Would it show up?
Would a new thread on the same topic be created automatically, with a link to the archived thread? (This would probably be the beat solution, but its probably impossible.)
I do agree that extremely long treads probably are responsable for some of the problems we've had in the past... & I noticed some of the advert. banners have disappeared.

2) (it goes without saying that) noone will be banned if he posts the 151st post or something like that

I think that was the most exciting thing that happened here for months! I don't mind getting banned, there still live and some other fora.

upon further review:
connorkimbo's vacation is reduced to 24 days and 30%. Renwaldo85, L. Pelagi, Ly-Cilph were not created by him, but by Giant Squid. For that GS gets an extra week and 10%. Still, connor used the logins Lyricist, Renwaldo84, L. Pelagi and that's the reason of his vacation
Renwaldo84 was used by djugasvili as well, and he gets an extra week and 10% too
also, I forgot to mention ghen's 2nd dl: spoon made of silver
for that and for the third one, ghen gets 2 more weeks and 20% more(or rather, less)

I think it is time we called an amnesty, IMHO, and got things back to normal. We need to have a better rapport with one another and a bit more mutual respect in future. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? Maybe an all expenses paid holiday to Hawaii for everyone, courtesy of Apolyton, to discuss and get to know one another

Just like to point out that I was banned on Friday not Saturday. Also I should have been banned and I read the post fully and carefully several times before I posted and had no doubt I would be banned and I was!
Also I posted a bizarre double post with 2 others in between which I think deserves a mention.
I think some people (posters) are taking this too seriously. Moderators can make what rules they want. The people who are banned made their protest to that announcement in that thread in their own way knowing they'd get banned. I don't think they want people campaigning to get them un-banned. Let it go and talk about something more interesting. The point has been made by both sides.

since you mentioned the word "rule", a rule was made because requests in previous occasions were ignored. let's not forget this...
My opinion is that 'rules' be made for as few things as possible and if you can possibly stop people having the option to break them then that's a good idea. People like breaking rules.
