    Turn 170-180

    Turn 173:

    Gravitic Fields discovered by mad scientist.
    At 2:14 am D2HW Time an explosion encompassing 4 city blocks announced the discovery of Gravitic Fields. While the deaths,destruction, and carnage are quite wide spread, these applications will no doubt be put to good use.

    AGrav Harness: Our troops can now fly! This may also alleviate problems on Darlenia 3.

    Gyro Destabilizer: This particular device is what destroyed a portion of our fair city.
    It makes any structure unstable(in this case all the construction work, buildings, pipelines,etc) and does quite a fair bit of damage to it.

    Inertial Stabilizer: Allows for increased ship turning, as well as mobility to evade incoming fire.

    Work will now progress in the field of Magneto Gravitic Fields.

    Turn 174:
    Tycho 2 finished its research lab.

    Turn 175:
    Darlenia One Finished a terraforming project, as Per the Minister of Affairs orders, it will now start a starbase.


    Turn 176:
    Bad news from GNN!
    First, the gnolams have discovered additional mineral resources.
    Second, the Sakkra have the largest empire in the galaxy.

    Turn 178:
    For the first time a planetary shield was constructed that is capable of deflecting a nuclear bombardment! Advances in magneto Gravitics is widely creditted with this achievement, as our colonies are now safe from even mirv nuclear warheads.

    We now possess Class 3 shields which in addition to
    Planetary Radiation Shielding will block 8 damage from missiles and bombs, and 16 damage from beams.
    Also we possess warp dissipators, no retreat, no quarter for the enemy!

    Physics will be the next research Area.

    Turn 179:
    A university research lab announced the very first directed energy beams and practical power sources have been developed.

    Our Scientists tell us that we have:
    Laser Cannons
    Laser rifles
    Scanners

    Fusion physics will be the next research target.

    News report from the war:
    After Galactic Cycles on end of fighting between the Bulrathi and the Silicoids, there is now a cease fire, and shortly there will be a peace treaty between these two powers.

    Turn 180:
    Fusion Physics are now within the realm of reality, this long cherished dream, of blowing things to little bits with fusion weapons has been realized.

    Our troops have advanced Fusion rifles, and our navy has the new fusion beams for its ships.

    tachyon Physics is next.

    After a lightning fast war against the Bulrathi the Silicoids have advanced on gnolam positions and demanded the surrender of Gnolam Commanders. Not getting a response the Silicoids have glassed several Gnolam positions. A state of war exists between the two empires.
    Minister of Defense:
    We can now refit the two ships to have class 3 shields, and advanced mass drivers, a ship is headed to our homeworld now in preparation for this.

    Do we send the ship back to the front, or procede to refit it?
    Submit a plan to contractors to bid on to develop the latest class of warship for our empire.

    How shall we move the other warship?
    Send it home to refit immediately, or wait until the other is refitted,etc?


    Minister of Affairs:
    A new building is available for all colonies, the Planetary Radiation Shield.

    Tycho II has not changed since the last report, except that it is now building an automatic factory.

    Darlenia I is now an Arid world, capable of supporting 11 people. It is currently building a Starbase.
    Should Darlenia I switch to housing, terraforming, or stay with star base?

    Darlenia II has not changed, shall it build a radiation shield, shall it perform refits on ships?

    Darlenia II has not changed, except that it is now 10 turns away from building terraforming, should it switch to a starbase,radiation shield, or stay the same?

    Citizens:
    Civilian contractors should submit new designs for warships given current technology.

    Here is the MoD reply: Refit the ship (we need battle scanner to do it, so our scientists better hurry up). The second ship must not be refitted, it will stay a missile boat for now. Meanwhile we must be building transports so at the time when the ship is refitted we must have 5 transports ready. Then we shall attack immediately our hatred neighbours (the rocks).

    Here is another design that we may want to build: (A Control Ship): Destroyer class, no weapons but instead Battle pods, Inertial Stabilizer, Augmented engines and Warp dissipator). This one will make sure that the enemies will not run when targeted by our battleships.

    This ship may be built AFTER our ships have attacked the silicoids, no earlier.

    Our secret intelligence services of the 'info' division have informed me that the silicoids have the equivalent of a fleet 4 times as big as ours.
    Let's hope the famed creativity of our researchers und our superior ship designs can overcome their numerical superiority if we attack.

    lets wait and see what tech they have before making that assessment. In another game I have the silicoids only have electronic computers, so even with 2 to 3 times as many ships as me i win without a single loss, and aside from computer tech that I win in they have better beams, better shields, better missiles, plasma webs(ouch...),etc.

    MoA reply: D1 stays with star base, D2 can refit the ship and D3 stays with terraforming, unless anyone wants to build something else.

    "better beams, better shields, better missiles, plasma webs" - if we wait long enough, they'll definitely get those .... waiting is the worst option, imo ....

    Erm I mean lets wait until we actually can see what techs they have before giving up the game for lost :P want me to send the missile ship and the refitted battleship to glass one or 2 of their border worlds?

    Heh, do not glass the planets, but send some transports instead. We must have some cool GF bonuses till now, powered armor is the most formidable one .... If we fight their fleet be sure that there are no defensive structures on the battleground - like stations and bases. I do not consider the game lost. If you want then I as a MoD may lead the battle, but I insist that this must be as soon as possible.

    Have in mind that once built the transports must be used ASAP because of the command points. We must have 3 or better 4 at the time when we launch the attack. May be two or three planets have to build them simultaneously. The 3 darlenia colonies for example. You can insert them before the terraforming in the queues and they'll become ready really fast.
    After the attack we must continue building transports for 2 reasons - to unload troops on the planets to suppress rebelions and to try to overwhelm the rocks and conquer all of their colonies before they know what hit them ....

    I vote for two teams building troop transports (attack when four can arrive.) -- Start a second BB with Beams (soon, not ASAP, but after the first four transports hit the sky, one location continues troop transports, and a second starts the BB.)

    As for the Star Base/Terraforming, I'd go with terra forming first & Star Base later -- maybe use the sillies' planets for star bases to "support" the ships in space.

    Regarding tactics for the Sillies -- we may want to engage -- take a planet or two, & when their fleet arrives -- smack half (run) and then crush in detail. -- A thought if we are out gunned/out numbered. If the Sillies then push the war on us, they'll hit us with piecemeal replacements -- which I think we can take out.
    Those with lower expectations face fewer disappointments
