I will try and ring you and others who have kindly left numbers today. I'll be working today (Saturday) and having meals with my co-workers, possibly time for some gift shopping I badly need to do.

Sunday is looking like the only opportunity to meet any more people? Would Sunday lunch be suitable for anyone?

It's possible I won't be able to fly out on Sunday night.

I think a sports bar would be a great choice. Sunday lunchtimish is when the games start (1pm).

Good suggestions but do we need somewhere where people under 21 can go????

Around 11am would be better for me. I'm flying out in the late afternoon so I don't want to drink a lot of booze (it's a 20 hour flight home).

The area where I'm staying is near Dupont Circle. I thought somewhere up there like "Kramerbooks and afterwords" at say 11am? We could meet in the cafe part at the back of Kramer books and then go somewhere else for lunch if people want to??

I'm easy. If people can't make it, no problem too.

Well I wasn't emphasizing the bar aspect anyways. I figured just a place with football. I don't drink anyhow.

But if Kramer's is good for y'all, I can do that.

    Sick

Okay Ozzy, that's good. I'm actually at Kramerbooks right now

They have 15 minutes of free internet at the bar

I have to go back to the hotel to pack but I'll come back at 1100am and stay in the cafe at the back of the shop until about 12.00. If noone shows, no sweat - I want to go to Arlington war cemetary and pay my respects.

Let's see who shows and then we can go and get some lunch. I have to be back at the hotel by 2.30 and get out to the airport.

    Sounds like a plan boys

Jon, the shop is very close to Dupont circle, about 2 shops down from the Starbucks. Opposite side of the park to the Metro station.

Even you should be able to find it

    No Horsie NO!

It's perfectly good to start drinking early on, so you can be absolutely wasted in your flight and drink even more!
Who knows, maybe you even go berzerk and we can read about it in the papers.. I say go for it.

OK, I'm at the bar. Where is everybody?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

    Sick

Just arrived home after about 24 hours of flights and airports.

It's freaky because you cross the dateline and pick up a day going and lose one coming back.

I left Canberra on a Saturday and arrived in DC on the evening of the same day. Coming back home, I leave on Sunday afternoon and arrive home at midday on Tuesday

Thanks to Dan and Jon for taking the trouble to meet old horsie.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

My greatest wish is to be half the poster MikeH is.
