  • Turn 150-160

Our focus polls have shown that our people demand terraforming, then class 3 shields.

    Turn 151:
Darlenia 3 is now reportedly suffering population pressures as people are now pushing at the seems.

    Turn 152:
An outpost finished construction, and will be sent to replace the glazed over former outpost that we set eariler.

    Turn 155:
our researchers have finished work on Genetic Mutation.
    We now possess terraforming.

work will now be directed to gravitic fields.

    Turn 156:
Darlenia 3 finished a pollution processor.

    Turn 159:
Darlenia 1 has been terraformed from a useless hostile barren world devoid of all life to a useless desert world that is devoid of all life! Progress!

    The situation:
We now have an outpost at vela, as well as our missile battleship and a scout.
A new battleship is only 4 turns away from being completed.
Darlenia 1 is now a desert world, and also has soil enrichment so it can feed itself.
We are researching mag fields 650.
We are still committed to the class 3 shieds/battlescanner plan for the moment.
We haven't had any fight yet, but one is expected during the next turn. We may lose the outpost, what situation should the battleship retreat from?

Yep, let's try to improve our SDI-program, maybe one day we will be able to hit the Jupiter from it's Orbit (instead of directly from the surface).

Retreat before the ship is lost. We shall try to keep it.
So in other words: If it is outnumbers and outgunned:

Run for your life and SOS SOS SOS

              Otherwise:
              Destroy them, my fellow
Let's see if somebody nows this phrase, it is out of a computer game

I'd recommend that we run if our ship gets stripped out of its heavy armor, or if there are a lot of missiles targeted against her and the crew feels that the armor won't hold agains them ....
Against stupidity the very gods themselves contend in vain.

                  That's a good one

(No insult ment, but only a question: Was it for purpose?)

Same as Gilgamensch, we should attack if they aren't outnumbering us or just look mean. If they do, run like headless chickens.
The Chuck Norris military unit was not used in the game Civilization 4, because a single Chuck Norris could defeat the entire combined nations of the world in one turn.

OK, It is obvious that we'll use some spathy tactics here :-) (Remember Star Control!)

By the way, it looks like the various ministers can start exercising their powers. Minister of Affairs can decide what improvement construction and citizenry assignment, the Minister of defense can decide on troop/ship movements, post polls on designs, etc.

Later on we may wish to appoint a Sky Marshall to direct overall planning for our war against the hated rocks.

                          It all sounds good

I'd consider pairing the missle boat with a scout -- the missle boat fires the first barrage & the scout heads sideways on the first turn.

Second turn, second fire & see if running is required (it may depend on the numbers of the enemy, their speed & what they shoot -- scout moves farther from the field of fire (first) -- thay way the missles won't follow it if the missile boat has to run. We may be able to truly use hit & run tactics.
Those with lower expectations face fewer disappointments

the scout we have is presently with the missile boat, no where else for it to go, I guess I could try to scout out 2 more nearby planets with it.

That tactic you listed will probably we what I do in a fight, unless the rocks send some pathetic ship out there.
