(4 January 2003, 03:39 | About) Both announcements are "kind of" late, but the duty must be done:
2 New CivGroups have been created:
- Mac, for our Mac users
- NationStates, for Apolytoners involved in the game with the same name(more on the Stories & Diplomacy forum)
Speaking of CivGroups, over 500 people are now using the feature, being included in one or more of the 21 availiable groups.
For our stats, 281306 visitors in October, 287063 in November and 277485 in December . 76711 posts in September, 77586 posts in October, 79816 in November and 87770 in December. We promise something really nice for the 26000 users(which is also late already :))! Once again, many thanks! - MarkG
MAC GAME EDITOR: `FINAL CANDIDATE`
(3 January 2003, 15:20 | Civ3 | 31 comments) Yesterday Westlake Interactive, the company that ported Civilization III to the Macintosh platform, updated their "Project Status" page. One of the two titles who had their listing modified is the upcoming Civilization III Game Editor, now listed as having entered the final candidate phase. This is considered to fall in between the beta and gold master stages.

CLASSIC CIV3 AT $19.99
(3 January 2003, 06:08 | Civ3)
EB Games is now offering the classic version of Civ3 at the lowest price ever, $19.99. This is currently a bargain for those who dont have Civ3, as their other choice is the Game of the Year edition costing $39.99 and mainly adding just the 1.29f patch.
The low price is due to classic civ3 being discontinued(we couldnt find it on any other online shop) in favor of the game of the year edition. In other words, EB is trying to sell the last of their stock. Amazon had similarily dropped their price of the classic civ3 to bellow $25 and is now out of stock.
Meanwhile, the Play the World expansion pack continues to sell at $29.99. A "gold" package of the classic civ3 with ptw doesnt seem very close. - MarkG

DPO Releases anti-Morgan War Plans
In a move that astounded most members of the UN, Director of Peacekeeping Operations DeathByTheSword released plans for the so-called ‘Operation Fallout’, which was aimed at the conquest of three bases in the west of Morganic territory. This provoked a furious debate between the pro (mainly Voltaire, as DBTS did little arguing) and anti-war side (more or less everyone else). An unofficial poll indicated that the vast majority of UN citizens were opposed to such a war, and the plan fizzled, but the debate did provide a welcome relief from the incessant FM vs. Green/Planned debate which had been raging since the establishment of the DLP
New Party Forms
After much private debate and discussion, GeneralTacticus and Archaic finally went public on their plans to form the Democratic Libertarian Party, which was intended to be a party in favour of a Democratic Free Market and a logical approach to all issues, and to establish a solid voting block to support those issues by requiring that all members follow the party line, which was to be agreed upon by all members. The party is currently one of three members; the two founders, and Tassadar5000, whose decision to join the party astounded observers, as he had been the first to quite a political party and had begun a trend that virtually eliminated political parties, with the exception of the CCCP. However, the party has not had much influence in politics beyond the FM debate, as Archaic has rarely been online, Tassadar has not been taking part very often, and GT can’t make the party active on his own.
Major Directory Reshuffle
In order to lighten the load on our Director of Terraformation and Colonisation and allow the faction to run more efficiently overall, a constitutional amendment was passed abolishing the offices of DTC, DBP and DIE and replacing them with the Directorate of Internal Affairs, which was granted the power to divide our faction into regions, which would elect local governors to take over the job of the three eliminated directorates. Four regions (Centralis, Jedinica, Aurillion and Twin Sea) were originally established, with a fifth recently set up (to be governed by Drogue), which will probably be called Akiria.
Hive War breaks out
Shortly after contact was established with Chairman Yang of the Human Hive, war erupted between our two factions, with Chairman yang citing the Peacekeeper refusal to give up classified technology files. Although the war has yet to have any serious effect on either faction, the sheer size of the Hive military compared to the UN has left some members of the government rather worried. To date, though, the only action that has been taken against the Hive has been a probe action in one of his bases, which recovered files on Nonlinear Mathematics.

FIFTH: WIRED.COM`S `VAPORWARE`
(2 January 2003, 22:55 | MoO3) The Vaporware Team at Wired.com has placed Master of Orion III fifth on a list of their top ten `vaporware` products of 2002. `Vaporware` refers to products anticipated for release in a given period -- in this instance, the past 12 months -- that do not materialize for one reason or another.
[MoO3] is the long-awaited update of the popular space-strategy game. The wait appears to be nearly[...] but not quite[...] over, the said Wired.com troop writes, placing it after NVidia`s GeForce FX graphics card and before Oqo`s Ultra-Personal Computer in sixth and fourth spot respectively. - DanQ
