MING: Faces of Apolyton #8, 26/Mar/2002

PART I

Hello again,

This is the second part of the eighth installment of Faces of Apolyton interview series. This time, the Ming’s interview is continued, and this man continues those attention grabbing stories from the first part. Also, some Civ 3 stuff is being mentioned here.

Next time, our victim will be Jay Bee, a well known Civ 2 scenario maker and the webmaster of the Spanish Civ 2 site.

Enjoy,
ACS Interview Chief - Solver.

Chris: Speaking of the 70s, you happen to be a fan of that era's music, aren't you?
Ming: Most of the rock and roll I own is from that period. Some early 80's stuff, and any new albums from groups that I liked back then.

Chris: I also love the music from that era. Tell us a few of your favorite bands, I know Blue oyster cult is one of yours.
Ming: Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult, LZ, The Stones, Tom Petty, Captain Beyond, Black Sabbath...

Chris: It seems that music today is a parade of one hit wonders, would you agree with that?
Ming: Sort of... I hate rap, and the rest is teenage crap... no interest. I still listen to classical music and progressive jazz... Weather report, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock...

Chris: Quite a diverse interest, you know I often saw BOC in long island years ago.
Ming: BOC sucked live. They were a "studio" band. But I always enjoyed the shows anyway. I’ve seen them many times. My wife hates "loud music" so we don't go to many anymore. The last ones I have been to were Jethro Tull/Emerson Lake and Palmer old folks tour, Pink Floyd, The Stones... and I was going to see BOC, but they cancelled. Jrabbit works for a 'leading' microphone company, and heads up artist relations. He gets us great tickets and backstage passes. I’m in media, so I'm used to freebies. They call me a classic "media whore", I can go to any sporting event, concert, you name it, I go. I even went to the Lake Placid Olympics many years ago via Sports Illustrated.

Chris: Ha ha, speaking of sports, I know you’re an avid Cubs fan. Ever sit in the bleachers at Wrigley field?
Ming: Many times, I was one of the FIRST people to sign up for the "diehard cubs fan club"! (again, thanks to Jrabbit) My wife and I sat in the bleachers on the day I proposed!

Chris: At a ball game? Did you have asking her that day in mind when you started, or did you just work up to it?
Ming: We took the day off, and I showed her what life with me would be like. We went to a Cubs game, sat in the bleachers, then walked along the lake holding hands, and then went to dinner to her favorite restaurant. And later we curled up in front of our fireplace. Now, I wouldn't even consider sitting in the bleachers, only the expensive seats for me (but free)!
