PART II
Chris62: So what happened to your collection?
Ming: Rah and I turned most of our comics over to a dealer to sell, it provided a lot of beer money in college!
Chris62: I would think so! Must be kicking yourself now, you could buy your house with the money now.
Ming: really, but they would have been worth a ton by now. We had some very extensive and complete collections. But the money during college helped a lot too, so I'm not going to complain.
Chris62: Ha ha, of course. Let's talk some about Civ. Did you play CivI?
Ming: I played Civ for the SNES first. It might have been a version of CivI. It was console based back then, not pc. But Civ made me want a computer. A computer of my own at home that is
I bought the computer, then CivII the same day! Oh, and the Internet connection about 30 seconds after the computer booted for the first time.
Chirs62: It is the same, and the same for me as well! With a teenager, it must be tough to find time to get on-line at home.
Ming: Not really, the internet connection was set up for me. We then went to a DSL network so we could all access at the same time. We are now on a cable modem with 5 computers on the network. My wife is a techhead, not me. I'm just a “smart” user. I can figure stuff out, but why bother if somebody else will do it for me.
Chris62: I agree 100%
So, did you ever play the board game version of Civ from Avalon Hill?
Ming: No. I didn't even know it existed until I saw people talk about it on Apolyton.
Chris62: Speaking of that, how did you come to discover that piece of heaven we call Apolyton?
Ming: Rah and I were trading records (like we do for all computer games), and we were looking for Civ hints. We finally found sites like Addicted To Civ and The Ultimate CivII Site. I started hanging out at Addicted. I met Stewie, Xin, Rune, and a bunch of the other old timers. Addicted finally crashed, and I found [The First Greek Civ2 Site]. site. The forums were most like what we had left and liked. I told some people to come by, and the rest is history.
Chris62: And Black history at that!
Ming: Cute.
