There can be little doubt of the usefulness of Apoyton as a Civilization site. It has the strategy guides and numerous downloads expected of such a site, and the forums are invaluable to the learning of any civer, new or old. But who knew that Apolyton was the place to go fo other games, too?

The Other Games forum is the place I go to talk about almost any game I get. When I got Diablo, I went to Other Games to ask about it. When my wife was first struggling with The Sims, first aid help was found in Other Games.

The Apolyton members have cruised the web, and when there's a good site spotlighting a game, they tell us about it. I've gotten turned on to sites about upcoming games such as Master Of Orion 3 and Black & White, not to mention a few of the GOOD sites for existing games like Diablo or Colonization. Come asking about where on the web to find stuff for your games, and most of the time, someone will know where to find it.

Over in Other Games, We also discuss the merits and demerits of the various games out there. Including some you may not have heard of. The first I heard of Nethack was LighteNing talking about it in Other Games. We talk about what's the best new stuff, the good bargain bin titles, and the great abandonware. Someone recently came asking for good shooters to blow his hard earned money on, and he got what he came for.

And let's not forget that Other Games is the place to talk about those civ type games that aren't actually supported by Apolyton. There have been several threads devoted to Colonization, and a huge thread (recently closed and restarted) about the classic Master Of Magic. Yes a lot of us do still play it. In addition to the classics, the new civ style games also get their time there. 1602 A.D. got its time, and the new Europa Universalis Forum got its start as a group of threads in Other Games.

So, for civ, we have our regular forums. But for other games, don't search the net first, come to the Other Games forum. I know I do.
