I think most will agree with me, when I say that expectations for CtP2 are not too high! The press release unveiled that Activision has seen problems of the orginal CtP and is now working hard to fix them, but we havent heard of any new radical concepts that may make it into the game.

So, when someone would ask me: "What do you expect from CtP2" then I would answer: "CtP but improved". I really have no clear picture of how CtP2 will look like, but whenever I think of it, I have the picture of CtP in my mind. This may be caused because the CtP community is still desperately waiting for a patch that will never come. So many will combine the picture from CtP with the new sequel (which is thought as "patch-concept").
On the other hand, when someone asks me: "What do you expect from Civ3" then I would say: "A completely new game with radical new concepts, new ideas, a great AI and a new and much better User-Interface (I really didnt like the SMAC one)". I dont know if this is an advantage for Civ3 because I think a lot of people will be dissapointed (I just dont believe that Firaxis can put out something that fits our dreams, even though I hope).

So, while the expectations of Civ3 are too high, the expecatation of CtP2 are on a minimal level (of course this can change when we get more info on the game). This is also reflected in the "discussion-level" on both forums (the Civ3 General and the CtP2 General). If you look in the CtP2 forum than you will see some threads and only once in a month, someone posts a new thread. If you look in the Civ3 forum you see lots of posts, lots of ideas and new concepts.

This is sad. I think CtP2 deserves more attention by us and we could discuss some features there as well. Even more so because the Activision crew is always open (like the Firaxis of course) to new ideas and I think it is important that we give our thoughts on how to improve the game and what could be done to make the game much more fun to play.

So, long speech, short sense: Head over to the CtP2 forum and post your comments about the game. If we don't show Activision that we are interested in the new game, we wont get any new information!!
