<Ribannah> Cool
<redbull> Me neither.
<WarpStorm> Why should
the Bomb cost culture, I hear that Pakistan made their successful test date
a Holiday
<SpencerH> has the concept
of negative culture points been addressed at all
<redbull> Argh!
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
(actually that's in the 1.07 editor)
<Speed Bump> player1:
Who is attacking and what is the defending terrain?
<Propaganda> The Hydro,
Nucelar and Coal Plants all have this flag. Any possibility of adding more
of these flags, please?
<Sonic> Will you have
to own the original civ3 to install ptw?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Propaganda> Improvements cannot be made obsolete but all Great and
Small wonder flags have been combined and can be used interchangeably
<Ribannah> Is it possible
to add an additional era? (Like ancient times).
<SpencerH> :blush:
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Sonic> yes
<Theseus> Tricky, SB.
LOL
<player1> How does automated
bombardment work? No lethal bombard in PtW?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Ribannah> Not at this time
<reefer addict> with
ptw, will there be passwords for players so someone cant load a game and
see what your doing?
<Ribannah> Prehistoric
times
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Propaganda> Adding more of those flags is still on the wishlist
<Speed Bump> Sonic: yes
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Spencer> negative culture points has been available since the original
release
<Speed Bump> Sorry guys,
I have to go and take care of some PTW business with InfoG. See you later
<Ribannah> Can your civ
get below zero? :eek:
<SpencerH> I must have
missed it
<Theseus> Thanks!
<WarpStorm> By, Speedy
<reefer addict> c ya
speed bump, and thx
<Carlos113> bye!
<WarpStorm> How good
of an internet connection do you really need for MP?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Ribannah> No you can't go below 0
<Propaganda> Mike, about
culture. Say, if I was Russia and had great culture, do citizens in civs
parked close to my empire assimilate and become Russian sometimes?
<Propaganda> And if so,
does that affect their war mentality, if for example, that civ decides to
declare war on me?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
WarpStorm> That I don't know. I've only played on the LAN here because
I'm not doing much of the MP code
<MarkG> bye barry, thanks
for being here!!
<Ribannah> Prop you mean
without the city defecting? Hm.
<Propaganda> I dont mean
general war weariness.
<Theseus> Is this autobombard:
basically, it's is unit by unit, and you instruct the unit to keep bombarding
a specific tile until you tell it to stop.
<Propaganda> For example,
you see some citizens screaming, "Stop the aggression against our mother
country." Will citizens in different civs be able to pick up that mentality,
even if they are in a different
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Propaganda> Only whole cities can switch sides. Assimilation only
refers to citizens in captured cities who retain their original nationality
for a time
<Propaganda> Like a German
citizen assimilating and becoming Russian, but still living in Germany.
<reefer addict> autobombard,
can you tell a stack of arty to all bomb a square with one click, or is it
by unit
<Ribannah> Only if they
intermarry
<Propaganda> ..but having
support for Russian.
<Ribannah> Any plans for
Civ4 yet?
<Theseus> Autobombard?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Ribannah> it's been mentioned....
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> reefer addict>
no there is no stack autobombard
<WarpStorm> How about
stack move and attack?
<Ribannah> I want to
play Civ4 on a globe ...
<MarkG> mike, who's winning
in the internal tournaments?
<The Bloody Baro> Sorry
if I bore some one with these questions but A: What are Carthage's traits
and UU B: What will be possible in the editor.
<player1> NO STACK BOMBARD?
So what is "the automated bombard"
<Ribannah> Quinquireme?
<SpencerH> No one else
has mentioned the burning box question......maybe it should be tin
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
WarpStorm> stack move is available and stack attack wasn't planned
but happened accidentally
<reefer addict> does sid
have game, or is he toast when he plays a civ-fan in the upcoming contest?
<player1> I thought that
the same thing
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
burning box?
<Propaganda> Mike, about
favorite/shunned governments again...Do the civs with their favorite governments
generally lean towards that government, or is it all fixed?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
auto bombard lets you give a unit bombard orders. They will continue
to bombard their target until you cancel the orders
<SpencerH> a hot topic
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Propaganda> Yes they tend toward their favorite govt
<Propaganda> Because
in the late game, I only see Demoratic civs.
<SpencerH> there are
no quotation marks here
<Propaganda> I want a
bit of diversity, like maybe having Russia and Chians tay Communist.
<WarpStorm> WIll there
be Limited Edition tin?
<Theseus> What do you
mean about "stack attack"?
<Propaganda> Communism
seems to be only popular to the AI when it is at war.
<player1> MB> you
mean that they'll bombard several rounds unit you say STOP.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Carthage is Industrious and Commercial and their unit is the Numidian
Mercenary
<Propaganda> It generally
does want to swing towards it, unless it's being attacked and needs to draft/pop
rush.
<Ribannah> Mike, could
you change the map generator so it can also make hemisphere maps (single
pole in the center)?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
player 1> yes
<SpencerH> Thanks all
<The Bloody Baro> Thanx
what are the traits? I heard something about 2.3.1 and replacing spearmen.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Ribannah> You can now make flat maps (no wrapping from left edge
to right edge) and toroidal worlds (wrapping from top to bottom edge)
<Propaganda> I had to
go into the editor and drastically change different settings for Communism,
so it becomes a lot more appealing.
<Propaganda> but I still
see many civs in Democracy.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
2/2/1, cost 3 I think they replace spearmen
<Propaganda> Though,
I did get China to turn Communist during peace time.
<Propaganda> It stayed
like that for the whole game.
<lockstep> Are there
any changes/additions to the tech tree?
<reefer addict> i hear
the DyP mod will be in ptw, will the slavery and slave markets still be in
or is that un-pc
<Ribannah> Yeah I know,
but ...
<player1> Cost of 30 is
a DISADVANTAGE is early game
<Locutus> Numidians Mercenary?
What does that look like? Cavalry or Infantry? What kind of weaponry?
<The Bloody Baro> Well.
Thank god for another Ind-Com Civ. I can't stand being the retarded French.
<player1> 2/3/1/30 or
2/2/1/20 would looks ok for me
<WarpStorm> 2/2/1 cost
3 would be a reason not to take Carthage.
<Propaganda> IF Slave
Markets are in, I'd like to see Lenin or Stalin was leaders of Russia.
<Ribannah> 2/2/1/30 is
an expensive bowman
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Locutus> They look like infantry with a spear
<player1> Mybe it should
be 2/3/1/30, does not replace anything.
<WarpStorm> and a Shield...
<Ribannah> Why not 1/2/1/20
with +1 defense v mounted units
<Propaganda> Mike, I'm
not sure if you visit CivFanatics, but they posted a preview an excerpt from
a preview once, which misquoted one of you.
<player1> So you could
still build cheap Spear
<Propaganda> It said
that there was a possibility of "Civ Flipping" but you can turn it off.
<Locutus> javalin or
regular 'stabbing' spear? (yes, I'm a history buff)
<Propaganda> Would Civ
Flipping be realistically possible to implement?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
I visit cfc all the time but I don't recall seeing that....
<Level> What does walk
in the Unit.ini do?
<Theseus> Gotta go...
thanks Mike. You guys are great, as always (and not one "no comment").
<Propaganda> I think
it would be a good concept, of course complete with warning and pop-ups.
<The Bloody Baro> Ribannah>
Because historically those Numidians got their arses whopped by mounted troops.
<Locutus> WarpStorm:
there are screenshots? I haven't seen any yet... must have missed some...
<Propaganda> It was from
a Gamespy review, I believe.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Locutus> I'm not a big history buff and I can't tell from the icon
<Propaganda> And we debated
if it was real or not, and one of you folks said that in reality, the editor
meant city flipping, not civ flipping
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Level> I think it's unused
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> Oh I did see that
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> It was city flipping
<Ribannah> TBB
<Locutus> but what about
the attack animation, does it throw the spear or stab with it?
<XarXo> Hi!
<Propaganda> But would
it be possible to implement a whole civilization flipping, but still keep
the game balanced?
<reefer addict> how will
airbases work?, do they have movement or can they only be airdropped
<XarXo> We will be able
to put icecaps in the edges that we want (for example, all 4 edges or just
the north to create antarctica at the south), also, we'll have glaciers as
a new terrain set? :expect:
<Propaganda> Maybe have
a fixed number of cities go into civil disorder and in a fixed number of
turns, if you don't quell the resistors
<Propaganda> your civ
flips and you lose.
<Carlos113> hi XarXo
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
XarXo> No polar ice caps can only be on top and bottom
<The Bloody Baro> <Ribannah>
TBB What I do? I was hust pointing out the fact that it wouldn't be historically
accurate. I didn't mean to offend you in any way.
<Ribannah> Can airbases
be airdropped? :surrender:
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Propaganda> Don't you think that's a little harsh?
<Gramphos> I miss the
one civ split into two when taking the capital feature.
<Ribannah> TBB I meant
that's a pity.
<The Bloody Baro> Oh well I'm
not good with vague answers.
<Nuclear Master> hey
<The Emperor Fabulous> I
have a HUGE question, one of GRAVE importance to those of us who bought the
LE Version of Civ 3
<The Bloody Baro> Well
what I think they should be is 2/3/1 and cost 2 gold as support since they
were mercianeries.
<Propaganda> Well, I
think it'll stop the trigger-happy crowd a bit, and give them something else
to worry about, besides bulking up on military, especially in MP. Newbies
are going to be buried in those gam
<The Emperor Fabulous> Will
those of us who bought LE get some sort of discount for the game?
<Gazablanca> unf
<Ribannah> Propaganda
what if the player flips, rather than the civ?
<Nuclear Master> hello
<Sonic> Will it be possible
to land on ice caps?
<Propaganda> all the
more, if the more experienced players are just going to attack them and they
dont even know what's going on.
<Aro> Hello
<Propaganda> It could
add a good element of strategy into the game.
<Propaganda> Because
as it is, this game rewards warmongers much more than peace-loving players.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Sonc> No, you can't land on ice caps
<Nuclear Master> hey
<WarpStorm> Will there
ever be a penalty for losing your capital?
<The Emperor Fabulous> is
there an answer to the LE question?
<Propaganda> Also, it
adds a bit of realism there, because historically, these type of things occured,
and occured because one civilization just didn't worry about the people.
<Ribannah> Fabulous maybe
PTW comes with a free copy of MoO3 ...
<Propaganda> or in this
case, culture.
<Sonic> Will the map
of the world also include Antarctica?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Emperor Fabulous> All of that kind of stuff is handled by Infogrames
but if I had to guess I would say no
<Nuclear Master> will
there ever be natural disasters
<neonext> can you 1)
play the turnless mode in single player? and 2) play the turnless mode with
AI players in MP?
<WarpStorm> Will there
be a good map of the world with all 24 civs properly placed?
<Ribannah> If you play:
yes
<reefer addict> airbases,
how do they get where there going?
<Propaganda> Weather
effects would be good, but I wouldn't be very fond of complete disasters.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
WarpStorm> Not unless you make it
<Ribannah> Your workers
build them
<lockstep> Any new techs
besides the 82 of vanilla Civ3? Or changed tech prereqs?
<Ribannah> ANy room for
more techs?
<Nuclear Master> will
there be another expantion or civ 4
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
neonext> Turnless is primarily for MP but you can start a 1-player
MP game...
<player1> Civ2 was last
Civ-type game which had good World Maps of several s
<Ribannah> lockstep Horseback
Riding now comes before The Wheel
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Nuclear Master> there's always the possibilty
<neonext> and u can fill
the MP slots with AI players?
<WarpStorm> Will Radar
Towers make Radio a must get tech?
<Aro> In the foreign
advisor we can't see all civs. Could we see all civs in the game in the new
game? Sorry if this was aked before.
<Propaganda> I think
it's too early for Civ 4, as Civ III is still a bit "green" and can still
be improved.
<The Emperor Fabulous> Will
there be a real earth map, and if there is, how will it work (random settling,
play out like a scenario, etc)?
<Propaganda> Not that
it isn't good already.
<Propaganda> but More
is always good.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
I don't think we are doing another earth map but one may be among the
included scenarios
<Shiber> will there be
a future age in terms of technology?
<reefer addict> thx for
your time guys, cant wait to kick some human ass c ya all soon
<Propaganda> Emperor,
there are already a bunch of Earth maps around
<Nuclear Master> i didnt
mean now
<Propaganda> .
<Ribannah> Yes prop,
but if we know there'll byea civ 4, we can make a List
<Propaganda> There's
even a Modern Day scenario already available.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
WarpStorm> Radio is a requirement for Radar Tower
<Propaganda> Too bad
it takes too long to load.
<Nuclear Master> have
you ever thought of the idea of getting a apolyton person and using them
for ideas
<WarpStorm> So, Mike,
do you actually get to play PTW or are you too busy?
<Propaganda> Which leads
me to my next question...Mike, will load times for info-heavy scenarios be
cut down a bit?
<Propaganda> It took
me 20 minutes to load the Modern Day scenario.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
WarpStorm> I play it more now than I did earlier in the project
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> Scenario load time
has been reduced somewhat
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> afk
<Nuclear Master> i think
you should take a person from apolytonia and use them for ideas
<Ribannah> Nuclear Master
they've used plenty of our ideas :love: (not all though)
<Shiber> Mike, are you
going to add a future age with projected technological advances?
<Nuclear Master> i g2g
bye
<Ribannah> Mike, are
we going to get improved city / great leader lists for the existing civs?
<Propaganda> Mike, have
you visited the Call to Power II general/scenario forums here on Apolyton?
<Propaganda> There are
a good ammount of volunteer mod-makers over there, who have some good ideas.
You should also take a look at some of their projects..
<Propaganda> if you have
Call to Power II, anyway.
<XarXo> Mike, we'll be
able to create special properties like 'not_allow_city_building' in land
areas more than in terrain types?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
back
<Propaganda> Locutus
is a regular there.
<XarXo> this is, we
can select some squares with CT´RL + Mouse and SHIFT+ Mouse and apply
terrain or similar more than a brush?
<XarXo> re-hello mike
<Propaganda> Mike, can
you answer my earlier question about government assimilation?
<Locutus> I'm a little
more than a regular there, Prop
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Xarxo> no terrain placement works the same way
<Propaganda> Would a high
percentage of assimilation lower the chance of culture flipping or how does
it work?
<Ribannah> Loc's an elite
<Shiber> Mike, are you
going to add a future age with projected technological advances?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
Prop> I assume it would lessen culture flipping because the citizens
would assimilate into your culture faster and be lesslikely to flip... but
it only has an effect on cities you capture
<Locutus> well, that
too but I am the mod, news editor, database manager, tournament organizer,
etc
<Ribannah> Can we have
Wonders influence the assimilation rate?
<Propaganda> Locutus,
ask Dale to release a new version of World At War right away.
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS>
not at this time...
<Locutus> LOL, he's busy
with another mod now, prop, I think he regards WAW! pretty much finished...
<Propaganda> Mike, would
it possible to rename our empires in mid-game?
<Ribannah> Can Wonders
have more than one effect?
<XarXo> Mike, as we will
have dinosaurs in Civ III, also we can have some golfers set like I.M. Picky?
<XarXo> xDD
<Level> Is rubble left
when any city is destroyed or is it goal citys only, and does it do anything?
<XarXo> what about Mindworms?
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> XarXo> We don't
have any golfers
<Mike Breitkreutz FIRAXIS> Level> Ruins are
left when any city is destroyed but they don't have any effect. They are only
for eye candy.
<Propaganda> Oh well.
Can you still tell me how I can implement Dale's final Diplomod version into
WAW?
