  • Best and Worst Moments of 2014

~πx107 seconds in a year. That's a lot of time for **** to happen. So what have been the best and worst moments, for you personally, this year? (You can include best and worst moments in a national, global, or cosmic sense if you want, but I'm looking for personal stuff.)

2014 was not a great year for Lori. The best part was probably me managing to finish a full-time semester at Maryland while working full-time and maintaining a GPA of 3.35. The worst part was probably me starting Maryland at the beginning of the year and then completely falling apart and entering a depressive episode so low, I felt the need to start a ~3,000 post thread about it here.

    You folks?

    For me it's easy.

The worst was my father passing.
The best was realizing that the worst was closing in and arranging for all three sons to visit him back in October for all of us to spend time together. It had been many years since we had done it.
I'm so happy we all had that time together.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Worst part of 2014: the 3 weeks after I quit smoking tobacco.

Best part of 2014: Not noticing until a couple of weeks after the 6 month mark that I'd been 6 months sans tobacco.

The best moment was Ben got banned. The worst moment is right now, when I have eaten too much pizza and chicken wings. I mean, why did I ever think I could eat so much?

It's hard to pick one. I'd say the best was the first night in the new house. Even though it was (and is) still under construction.

Worst, there werent any real bad ones. Im thankful it would be something trivial like having a headache.

Worst, having to go into sick leave this summer and the resulting problems I've faced.

Best, the last few days with family and friends and chatting with a nice girl I've met online.

The worst was my last two grandparents passing away within months of each other. They had a good run and a full life.

The best was finally getting clarification on my next posting in CA so my wife and I can plan for the upcoming year of awesome. They had kept me waiting for six months for an answer.

Robin Williams dying was the worst thing for me. That bothered me, and celebrity deaths usually don't. RIP

2014 was pretty good for me. No complaints.

After trying to finish a Dip Ed for four years and actually teaching for two I was flunked out, so my attempt at a career change to teaching failed. Meanwhile my old employer rationalized its engineering staff by a third, flooding an already oversupplied market. I'm burnt out with engineering anyway. They don't call it a career for nothing

My family are all well and everyone's happy *touch wood*.
