  • Happy New Year!

Just a quick State of Apolyton. We're still kickin'. We have extra server resources just in case. Apolyton did well in the Civ4 intersite demogame, with a good shot at winning (largely thanks to turn player mzprox) before the game ended prematurely. The wiki did very well for CivBE in search rankings, so with a bigger release (Civ6?) and some better integration with the forums we might get some new posters. Still some technical issues, but no major downtime or hackings.

Financially the site is stable. Slightly profitable even with having to take ads off the OT and a purchase of a new copy of vB this year. Of course that's due to a lot of work by volunteers and the fine people buying stuff on Amazon. So thank you!

A Gal-civ DeveloPer (Island Dog) has a thrade in the Other Games Forum with no mention on the front Page, no links, and no mention anywhere else on the site. All he got was a "thanks" on his Poast.

Shouldn't we Be milking this like we did civBe?

Yep AAHZ, there's a lot that still needs to be done with the site. Better coverage of other games is something to work towards in the future

I like to think I helped in my own small way.

Thank you, Aeson, for continuing to claim that I contributed to the site in a meaningful way. Thank you, members of Apolyton, for not openly admitting to being sick of me these last ~13 years.

I totally missed that Kuci's a mod. No wonder he doesn't post so much; it's no fun being an inmate when you're also the warden. Anyway, thanks, Aeson, it looks like the site is on the road to recovery. I will refrain from poking you too much about the engine, especially if Firaxis announces something else, like, tomorrow. Not sure what, since they've milked all the old properties and it's a smidge soon for Civ6, I think.

                  Thanks Aeson.

                  You've done a good job.

Not sure why I still post here; force of habit, I guess. Anyway, thanks to Aeson for being our shadowy, offshore fearless leader, and to all who contribute to Poly, whether in an official role or just by posting, organizing games, etc.

Much appreciated, and happy new year!

Happy New Year! (in about 5 hours).
This apparently is the year the country will get destroyed but I've listened to it so many times and it didn't happen, I kind of want something more original to hear.
On a more pertinent note I'll be trying to drive using chains on the tyres (assuming I get to install them first, very iffy) because it's snowing where I, in my infinite wisdom, decided to go.
The plan is to drive so slowly I'll probably gather all the swear vocabulary of the country from other drivers and I could use it to write a nice lexicon.
