  • German student Diren Dede killed in 'castle doctrine' case

The father of a German exchange student shot dead in Montana while trespassing in a garage says the US cannot continue to "play cowboy" with guns.

    that story made an impression.

so, if someone has entered a house, the house owner can kill him, if he so decides?

How can the court determine if the person reasonably believed he was in danger?

And why didn't the home owner simply yelled: get out of my garage you dumb **** I'm going to shoot you in the ass" or something similiar and instead just... shot...cold bloodedly.

and why was he allowed to have a gun in the first place?

the poor guy just went there to study and was having the time of his life and then someone killed him out of the blue because he was in his garage? (maybe by mistake?)

Also, the "castle doctrine" is the kind of thing a psychopath would use as a defense on the stand.

From what I read in the article, the home owner had left the garage door open (and his partner had left her purse on a table for "luring"?)
So a foreign kids walks by and sees an open garage.
Granted the logical way of acting is not to enter the garage.

But he's a young kid, 17 years old, haven't you done nothing ballsy when you were that young?
Maybe he wanted to check it out.
You don't just shoot him (and have the laws not only give you a gun but also justify it)?

Kids steal stuff out of garages all the time around here. Close your ****ing garage. And no, it's not okay to murder someone for that.

This is what happens in barbaric red states and, no, the guy didn't think his life was in danger (no reasonable person would) and he intentionally tried to create the situation by lying in wait, setting a trap, and telling people his goal was to murder someone. This is what happens when Republicans run a place. I'm happy I live in a civilized place.

They sound like Eurotrash. I wonder if they are a BF/GF psychopath duo. They straight up set a trap to try and lure someone in there. Sounds like premeditated murder to me.

Cue the right wing faux outrage.

Don't act like you never did anything questionable or stupid when you were younger; we all have.

Technically he was in the garage not the house but the truth is we don't know because someone murdered him before he could say anything. I remember a few years back when a Japanese exchange student in Louisiana got lost by taking the wrong bus, couldn't figure out where she was, so she decided to knock on a front door so she could ask for directions. The crazy nutjob cracker shot and killed her for knocking on his door. So, yeah, this stuff happens especially in red states. So for all we know the exchange student was lost, saw a light on and thought he'd ask for directions. Or he could have been a thief. The point is we don't know because the murderer decided to murder him before finding out. Yes, this is absolutely 100% without question premeditated murder, he set up a trap after all and then was laying in wait for hours each day, and I hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life.
