            Currently France spends more on its military than Germany. That gives it a large initial advantage. If the war is long, then Germany's large size and greater total wealth would tip the issue.

                      I put my money on the defendors side. But if they announce war on each other and try to destroy each other at the same time, difficult to say.

                      And like Brancy says, France does have a bunch of elite soldiers with attitude, but there's only 8000 of them. Still enough to be considerable force though.
